Isn't every SEC team doing the same? Wasn't that stated when the schedule came out last year?

I think they were trying to buy time to see if there would be more interest in switching to a 9 game conference schedule before going further with the 1-7 model.

Do you happen to know if the scheduled opponents will change for 2026? What I mean is these are permanent opponents, yes?

I never saw what happened to the whole pod idea so I really don't know. I think we'll play Alabama and Ole Miss every year but after that, I really don't know.

Have you read anything about that?

Technically, we’re in limbo at the moment. No one knows what will happen in 25 until the schedule format is finalized, which will have to be within the next 6-8 months.

The SEC hasn’t designated who the 1 permanent will be if we end up in a 1-7 8 game schedule. Since Bama, OM, Auburn, UF, A&M and Texas all have natural rivals, we would probably be stuck with OU. Arkansas will get Mizzou. UT will get Vandy and UK gets paired with USC. The only other real option for us in a 1-7 would be to pair OU with Mizzou and us back with Arkansas.

The other option is a 3-6 if the schools vote to move to a 9 game SEC schedule. The pod idea was already thrown out. Every school would just get 3 permanent opponents. I think the ones we ended up with were Bama, OM and A&M, but that could change.

With the 12 team playoff and the chaos of this season, I’m not sure the schools will vote to move to the 9 game schedule. That would just make the difficult path to the playoff more brutal than it already is.

Gotcha.

Thanks. You're one of the better posters here which is why I asked. Have a great holiday.

I suppose the athletic department needs the revenue, but what a stupid game to schedule from a strictly football standpoint.

One might think making the playoff would mean more than one paycheck.

Wondering if we will go to the Texas Bowl or Music City Bowl next year?

Maybe we'll get to play Rutgers or Minnesota. How exciting!

Maybe but avoiding Georgia, Texas, and Tennessee (3 playoff teams) is a friendly SEC schedule.

Clemson and Oklahoma worry me cause of qbs returning. If Milroe leaves not worried about bama as much. Dart and pavia I believe are gone so we will see about ole miss and Vandy

I have a feeling Texas and OU would be permanent opponents and we'll get A&M every year.

Id be fine with A&M or Arkansas as our permanent. They should do the 3 team and make it A&M, Arkansas and Ole Miss.

There have been LSU fans clamoring for us to have Bama as a permanent. So dumb and this year proves it with their terrible team curb stomping us

Impossible to guess win and losses right now (other than the consistent opening day loss, Clemson this year).

No one has any idea what the rosters will look like next year. Transfers, recruits and players opting to go to the NFL....

Great. 3 rent~a~wins in a 7 game home season. Ticket prices need to go back to $3 per game OR spend Saturdays on the TV.

I guess that is possible. You always assume the in-state rivalry is bigger, but Texas-OU is pretty big, as well. Choices will definitely have to be made and some big rivalries like UT-Bama, LSU-Bama, LSU-OM and UGA-Auburn will definitely end up getting cut if we stick with the 1-7.

All home games are winnable

At first blush, it looks that way. But South Carolina with Beamer is a rising star. They're not your daddy's SC team no more.

Clemson in week 1 will be tough

Yer not jes' woofin'!

We play Bama better in Tuscaloosa

Not really. We used to beat them on a regular basis, but LSU is only 2-6 last eight games there.
quote:

Ole Miss and Vandy will be worse next year

I don't think so. This has so far been an historically good year for Vandy, but their coach seem to have developed a chemistry with the team.
quote:

Oklahoma will be better

Almost certainly. This has been about their worst team I remember since the 1990's.

Playoff are possible in 2025

Possible, of course. Likely-- no.
