I think they should consider adding a few analytics experts to the committee

the old BCS has LSU #1

That’s because of the human polls, you know the polls that everyone on here HATED in 2003 have LSU #1. The computers which everyone says are unbiased have tOSU #1

In that system LSU would have 2 titles: 1958 and 2011

I always thought the BCS was the best system. I was for using the BCS system until the end of the season and put the best 8 teams into a playoff. That way “an eye test” isn’t needed from a bunch of morons in a committee.

At least 2 of the “unbiased” computers have Alabama ranked ahead of LSU and almost all have Ohio St #1 Just to be clear, if that was the system you’d be fine with that right? No humans no eye test.

The BCS never got anything wrong, and the playoff has never gotten anything wrong. A four-team playoff is better than a two-. The playoff is better, and it's awesome.

Yes. 8 teams. Power five champions get automatic bids with 3 at large bids. Top 4 seeds play at HOME!

There will always be complaining but at least no conference champ gets left out and great teams that happen to be in a juggernaut conference have an opportunity as well.
As it stands right now the format would look like this:
1. OSU vs 8. Minnesota
2. LSU vs 7. Oklahoma
3. Clemson vs 6. Utah
4. UGA vs 5 Alabama

The old BCS ranking system was fine. We didn't need to get rid of it just to create a playoff format. That never made sense to me.

2 team playoff just simply isn’t enough

Imagine the disaster that would be this year with 3 13-0 teams. One has to be left out

Oh I started having them the day they announced the playoff committee and they’ve done nothing but get stronger every year

... and if we lose to Georgia in the SECCG and drop to 3rd or 4th behind TOSU & Clem’s son, everyone here would start yammering about “Thank God we have the playoff and don’t have that old BCS system.”

And that's the beauty. The original BCS formula with the strength of schedule component and allowing the computers to account for scoring margin had the polls account for 50%. This means the "eye test" was accounted for, but it wasn't the final determination like it ended up being in 2011 and is apparently this week.

It was just too limited in the number of teams that would play at the end.

In that system you wouldn’t reach a 30 game winning streak until week 1 of next season fyi

I think you missed the part where I said you still have a playoff. They’re ranking system was fine. We didn’t need to scrap it. We only ended to add a playoff system to their ranking system. In your scenerio, those three 13-0 teams, plus one other team would be put into the playoff system we currently have.

From 1998 until 2003 they tweaked the formula almost every year and completely overhauled in 2004. If the 2004 fwd version was used the entire time you would have had different matchups in 2000, 2001 and 2003

I'd much rather have 1 championship game and the other BCS bowls still be huge accomplishments between other teams.

opened my eyes about how the committee picks and seeds 4 teams

They pick OSU over LSU because they beat the #10 team...who THEY placed at #10...even though they’ve been playing like shite down the stretch and are .500 against ranked teams.

I’m not saying that there is some grand conspiracy...but there is definitely an avenue for it.

The BCS ranking of teams is better than the CFP Committee.

I would just like to see a 4-team playoff with a BCS ranking format.
