No, actually it didn't. We were lucky as hell they said Ridley was out of bounds when he wasn't. When you have that little time that they had left, YOU NEVER DUMP THE BALL OFF.

LSU had an upward trend from 05-07. In 08 a correction took place and the trend moved downward. In 09 another correction took place and the trend moved upward again.
So, the prevailing trend during the last 5 yrs is an upward one.
BOOM!!!!!

2009 and improved throughout the season.
Compared to what? Certainly not relative to the competition since we sucked in every game in November.

Kinda like Bama was lucky when they said the LSU DB was out of bounds when he wasn't or Texas was lucky to have a second put back on the clock and on and on.
I prefer to credit Ridley for the effort he put out rather than to try and diminish it by saying he didn't do what the record says he did, but each to our own.

drizztiger, I feel your pain. As an alabama fan I said the same thing about Shula. Shula is clearly a bad coach (despite getting a 10 win season) but all kinds of diehard tidefans went to great lengths to defend sub-mediocrity.
That was with Shula. Les Miles is a far, far better coach. If a majority of a crazy fan base defended Shula you might as well go ahead and give up what you are trying to point out with Miles.
A funny thing is, when I was preaching about how Shula needed to be fired, I always, always referenced Saban as the gold-standard SEC coach and said Alabama should accept nothing less. If I was an LSU fan I wouldn't want to accept anything less than a Pete Carrol, Nick Saban or Urban Meyer caliber coach. But, there's not much reason to fire Miles until some guy like that becomes available because while Miles won't luck his arse into any more SEC championships he'll be good for 8-9 wins every year which ain't bad.

Did I hurt your feelings? Go to CVS and get some tampons.
If you can possibly explain to me how being 5 games out from the SEC west crown and 3 games out the next season should be just blindly accepted, I'll listen.
Until then, all I see from you sunshine pumpers is Miles overall record and calls to blindly ignore any trends because you have prayed on it and your hopes will come true. It's fricking brilliant. Might as well write it on your list to Santa with the fantasyland you morons live in.
You can't say, hey the team hasn't looked very good in most of the games this season because that can't be substantiated. You also can't use records with splits and trends because for some reason that's not valid either.
So basically it's just close your eyes because fantasy trumps reality. Well, maybe when I send my TAF donation and pay for my season tickets I'll sign your name to the check. I can hope and pray that you'll pay for it.
I've used just about every angle I can to get through to you analytically challenged fools. But I'm a one trick pony. It's more to the point that you are too stupid to analyze anything. Miles is the coach so he must be doing a great job. When in fact, from Ole Miss to performance on the field this season, to the horrid defense last season, to the losing SEC record for the first time since 1999 last season, to the 8-8 SEC record the last 2 seasons, to the 14-10 SEC record the last 3 seasons is more than enough reason for valid concern.
But go ahead and stick your head in the sand.
Your analysis is shallow and lacks any real intelligence. And, what's even funnier is your "boiled down" analysis is a 3 year stint in which you point out the National Championship. I find that ironic.
The real list of concerns that should be discussed include:
OL recruiting
OL development
QB development

Apparently they are because you have nothing to add besides wrongfully concluding that I hand pick data and then a sarcastic remark that you are dumb.
It makes me believe you truly are.
Just because you prefer to ignore the trends staring you in the face doesn't mean the trends don't exist
Looking at SEC wins since 2000, this year was dead on the statistical mode, so it wasn't really out of the ordinary. In addition, last year's number of wins was near 3 standard deviations from the mean, so, in effect, was a statistical anomaly and should really be thrown out when evaluating the program. Finally, if you look at a 3 year moving average after a coaching change, the 2003 championship was a statistical outlier compared to the previous staff. Going by the trends, we shouldn't have risked further mediocrity and fired Saban after the '02 season. The championship was nothing but a fluke.
If you dispute the statistics you're nothing but a retard...but we already knew that about da' drizz...

i really wish we WOULD get a new coach so the Rant could start bashing him. I'm tired of the Miles bashing. time to bash someone else!
Maybe if Saban comes back, we can bash him for...coming back?

I've broken it down in as many ways as possible. Yes, I included the NC year in that trend because otherwise I am bias. When I included every 2 year record since 1998, I was bias because I included 2008. You guys are a joke. And "Money G" speaking of intelligence is ironic to me.

Which when discussed with any sort of objectivity is retorted with "51-14 suckers!" Which again makes you a joke of epic proportions.
I'll start with coaching. Ole Miss proved unequivocally that Les Miles was not prepared to be the head coach that game. Not only did Ole Miss dominate the game, but when LSU almost lucked its way into a position to win, he was unprepared for any eventuality and as clueless as any coach I've seen in my lifetime.
So how prepared has he been throughout his tenure? Calling timeout after an interception against UT in 2005 doesn't bode well. Putting all his eggs in the RP basket when RP had been suspended multiple times isn't being prepared. Hiring co-DCs when Pellini left and watching a 3rd team in the last 12 games throw up 50 or more points on LSU should be attributed to Miles.
This past season, Miles has to fire his prior mistakes to bring in a whole new defensive staff. Meanwhile, the former OL and offensive minded coach produces one of the worst offenses, OL and playcalling in LSU history. Time to replace the offensive staff now.
Can Miles be successful again? I think it's possible. But to fricking type here and write off any argument as to what the hell is going on just makes you an idiot. You don't see it, good for you. Ignorance is bliss.
But until you can actually refute analysis with analysis you are useless, just like Lonnie and others that are put to the test then drop out of the thread only to come back later when the heat is off.
Who is delusional? The idiot blind supporters that have no argument except 51-14. But when you show them, "hey, things have changed" they duck and run because they're fricking idiots. Or when you say, "hey, Ole Miss was a massive cluster" they respond with "everyone makes mistakes."
Or when you've tried to beat sense into the senseless, they respond with "bama needs more fans."
Why?
Because you are simple minded. Either Les Miles is great or find another team. It doesn't even cross your childlike intellect that someone wants LSU to succeed, supports LSU fully, is an LSU alumnus and would never even consider such blasphemy yet at the same time has his feet in reality and can express the reasons he thinks LSU is headed in the wrong direction and back it up with evidence.
Do I think I am right? I do. Do I hope I am right? frick no. But you idiots couldn't possibly fathom that.
