So you think we have less talented players than MSU and Mizzou? Costello got benched tonight cuz he could only muster up 14 total points vs Kentucky and Arkansas and We let him set an SEC record for passing yards on us.

Also players like Damone Clark looked great last year and look completely lost this year. You think he just forgot how to play? Or is it more likely that the scheme is completely fricked?

Idc if Bo is actually the greatest defensive mind to ever live, he can’t salvage this situation. The players don’t trust him and once trust is completely lost, it’s almost impossible to get back.

If the players have turned on him, it doesn’t matter what he does he won’t win them back. Gotta admit it wasn’t a good fit and cut bait. If O keeps him around, it’ll be O’s arse looking fir a job alongside Bo.

I don’t think they will. But if LSU fires Bo mid season it should come with the caveat that O can’t make the next hire. It would be the second time in 4 years he made a terrible coordinator hire and forced the school to eat a BIG multi year contract for for minimal work.

O is a recruiter and mascot. Always has been. Always will be. That’s fine. But it also means you can’t just give him a blank check and total control in his coaching hires. It’s too damn expensive for him to just “date” every coach around until he finds “the one”

True. You're going to have to put together a search committee for every hire.

You need to find a new head man at that point. You don't need your athletic director making team personnel decisions.

I'm sorry but I've worked in companies like this and when directors are firing front line workers over the manager's head you are in a clusterfrick already.

talks of this a few games after his hiring would look shitty on everyone involved.

It’ll look shootist than losing to bottom tier SEC schools while setting records for horrible defensive play?

News flash: everyone involved already looks shitty.

We just throw millions around the football program like it is nothing. Priorities totally out of whack. I love college football, but the very idea that we can give a DC a $7m deal for three years then turn around and buy it out after three games is fricking ridiculous.

Maybe those donors should consider giving money to academics for a change.

But alas, you don’t have any inside sources.

I know who he is. He was named in a thread I was lucky to be following. He quickly asked chicken to axe the thread and chicken did. I won't say who he is because I appreciate and value his insight that vol brings to the board. I will say that he has connections to the program and leave it at that.

This. I dunno why everyone is all up on O. Dude brought in the talent to win a NC. Without O we don't even know who Joe Burrow is.

Why? It would be wasted on students that shouldn’t be at LSU in the first place. I’ll start giving to the academic side again when they stop lowering standards and importing foreigners.

In what way is the head coach not responsible for the product on the field?

I’m being told from multiple people that a faction of the larger donors are fundraising some money for a possible buyout of Pelini. I have even heard that O has mentioned to multiple people privately that Pelini May have not been the answer as DC.

If this is true, take it out of O's paycheck. O routinely makes awful hires and then throws his hands up and says "oopsie". It shouldn't be on LSU's donors to bail him out of every hire he makes.

Before last year, O was on the fast track to being fired. He was absolutely HATED. He struck gold in Aranda, Burrow, and Brady, (largely due to luck and not of his own doing) and everyone forgot how badly they wanted him fired and how he has been fired from every school he's ever worked at. Remember the Rozy Finch Boys threads? That is O without lightning in a bottle.

LSU got extremely lucky in getting a championship out of O. He cannot hire. He's botched every hire so far and made the school eat it to the tune of millions of wasted dollars.

Just send O packing with Pelini and start over. There is no reason to keep any of them. We got lucky, but it's not going to happen again with O at the top and his elderly BBQ buddies as coordinators.

"Defense can't be that complicated"? That was why Coach O, supposedly, knocked Aranda's defensive scheme. Coach O praised BP's defense for being a lot simpler & more aggressive

Simpler means easier to scheme for imo

Actually, it was the safety coach who told coach O about Joe Burrow who used to work with Joe’s dad at Nebraska.
