I think we're seeing a clear pattern of when we make deep CWS runs Jay and co are way behind on the portal and it has affected 2 of his teams in a big way here

Neither hosted a regional.
Tennessee was the 1 seed in the Knoxville Regional last year, weren’t they. It included Wake Forest and Miami (OH). Don’t remember the 4th team.

UT lost in the SR at Arkansas.

That has lead to leaning on familiarity with regard to some transfer portal evals. Mac Bingham was previously the worst transfer portal guy we took that got regular playing time. He has competition from another Arizona connection this year.

That's a reason, not an excuse.

No one is actually trying to excuse anything away, despite the chorus of retards calling out "pumpers" every day.

People were pissed at how average the 2024 team was, and I think that LSU team would probably sweep the shite out this sorry arse team we fielded this season.

What makes you say that? They started 3-12 in conference. They lost series to all the ranked teams they played except A&M. They got hot at the end of the season and made a run into the SEC tournament. I don’t think that team sweeps this year. Especially if we have cooper Moore.

You miss on a Fri night starter and it can change your whole team. Sure, there's lots of other issues, but when we have no guys that can lock up a game for 6-7 innings on a Friday night consistently it destroys our bullpen for the rest of The Weeknd and the bullpen isn't exactly stellar this year. Some years just be like this, just hang around and watch what JJ does this offseason, he will get this shite straight next year I assure you!

Agree. Vitello had Tennessee in contention every year. That’s my measuring stick.

Horrible take, totally not true and expectations for LSU Baseball are always high, reality it is impossible this age of transfers and NIL to dominate every year.

Pitching and hitting this season are not up to LSU standards

Collapse in '24? Get a grip.
We were one out away from winning the Chapel Hill regional.
JJ made a mistake in taking Akenhausen who was dealing out for Jump on little rest, and I think he knows that.

Again, we're not just any baseball program, we're LSU.
We are to baseball what Duke is to basketball.

For Duke basketball, an off season is 9 losses overall, maybe a 5th to 7th seed in the tourney. Any given year.

Translate to baseball, that's still a 2 seed in a regional. That should be our off year, on average we should host, and probably 50% of the time we should be a national seed (Top 8). We should NEVER be in danger of missing out entirely.
"We don't have the players"... we returned Curiel, Milam, and Stanfield. Jake Brown emerged as a premier batter. You have Arambide beginning to do the same thing mid-season.
Pitching, we seemed to be in a good place. Evans was in place to take the next step and become a starter, you have Cowan and Guidry, you have a number of highly rated prospects. You should be able to cobble together a decent rotation. Your stash of prospects (we've had multiple recruiting classes) should be able to handle midweek games; you should have multiple guys who can give you an inning.

The reality is that LSU men's sports is in a rut. With the recent coaching changes in football and basketball, we can hope that it's a short-term rut. But 2025-2026 looks to be lost seasons for the three LSU programs that most fans care about: football, men's basketball, and baseball. Definitely the worst combined seasons for those three in the "Golden Era" of 2000 - present.

It’s obviously a massive underachieving group. Def money not well spent. Wanton waste everywhere

Resources and support can't hit, pitch or field. No matter how much you invest, some years are going to be worse than others. Nobody can win it all every year.
