I think that’s what you’ll get from Schmidt this season.
Next season will be breakout.

It's a long season. We've had guys tend to breakout late in the season under Yeskie.
I'm somewhat worried about placing too much on Evans. He was great last year but it's a big jump to go to Friday night ace. We'll see. I feel pretty confident that Noot makes his way into the rotation. He's improved drastically since the injury and you could see him really starting to turn the corner towards the end of last year.
I'm also interested to see what happens with Cowan. I know he fell off towards the end of last season once the book was out on him but he bounced back and gave us a huge start in Omaha.

Out of the freshmen, which would be draft-eligible sophomores in 2027?

Could be missing one but i think William Patrick and Zion Theophilis.

Yeah Evans has the potential to dominate but its hard to predict Last year you had Anderson who did arguably less well than Evans did in his freshman campaign and he obviously made the jump so we shall see. I kind of feel Schmidt could have a similar jump too. I expect a surprise starter will work their way in. Hopefully its more on the forced their way in rather than one of the initial starters couldnt cut it kind of swap. We've seen pitchers struggle early but have late season surges so I'd be fine with that if thats how it has to work out. We all know the goal isn't to dominate in March. Some of us just forget that sometimes...

Hard to ignore what Braun is doing this spring. Just look at the stats posted by Ballhog above. He's hitting for average and power.
Plenty of options here. The four you mentioned, Arrambide as mentioned and either Dardar or Reaves.
It would be nice to see that position emerge as a strength.
Braun has to be the DH if Arrambide and Dardar are playing in the field right? No way Reaves gets in over Braun.

Who would argue that Anderson's freshman year was better, or even in the same stratosphere as Evans freshman year? Anderson gave almost nothing for LSU in SEC play but did have about 3 good innings in the regionals.. Anderson flashed the potential at times in his freshman year, but Evans had a domnant freshman year and was a "main guy" from the get go.

Yeskie has a good track record with LHPs. Williams might be the one, if any, to make an Anderson-like jump from year 1 to year 2

maybe a little too much swing and miss stacked together in the middle of the lineup. I like to spread those high power high k aggressive types out a little more

True, but I was also taking into account that Anderson was being groomed to be a starter his freshman season. Evans did so out of necessity a few times and with mixed results, but mostly he was in the bullpen. Being an effective starter isn't the same as being an effective reliever. Definitely not saying Evans can't be, just saying its not a direct comparison. Schmidt is a better comparison with Anderson. He too seemed to be groomed for a future starting role. He, like Anderson generally dominated weak midweek competition but struggled against SEC bats. Hopefully he can make the jump this year too.

Adam’s late this morning. Must’ve partied too hard for the Super Bowl last night.

No shortage of bullpen arms. Really solid group top to bottom. It's going to be interesting to see how Yeskie and Jay manage this in games

I feel like the past 4-5 years we've come into the years with sky high hype on our pitching. This year seems to follow suit. Obviously winning 2 of the last 3 it's all worked out well enough in the end, but I know that at times, and especially at the beginning of the year (or at least when competition initially cranks up) there's been a lot of struggle throughout the staff. Jay seems to have a good feel for getting his pitchers to peak at the right time, so I hope that trend will continue too.
