Does anyone know why Garrett Edwards didn't pitch this past year?

Sucks to lose Leto but I'm not surprised. What happened to Grant Fontenot?

I think Edwards and Fontenot both had injuries before the season

No spot for him on this team

I'm pretty sure I saw Edwards pitching with a brace on his leg, early in the year. He wasn't very effective then. He has looked pretty good this summer though. Edwards was considered a project when he got here as a freshmen, but actually pitched pretty good as a freshmen. Point is, there is still more potential in Edwards.
G. Fontenot was not injury related according to Naptime. We can only guess and speculate as to why he didn't play. The talent is there for him to have a productive 2023.

Simon and Hellmers are just rumors at this point. As mentioned Simon's Uncle said he was doing good, unless he had a setback.
There was also a poster who recently said that two players on that list are no longer on the team but he wasn't naming names and would let the players announce. I'm not sure if one of them was Siravo who had TJ June 3rd.

I hear Cade's son will try and walk-on to the team as well, it will be LSU's version of the Griffeys.

Agree. There will definitely be some freshmen that redshirt. And don’t be surprised if you have one or two out of that entire list that move on as well

It might be too early for "definite". The roster is still playing out, injuries, veteran players could leave and we don't know how good these freshmen are yet. I would think Primeaux is on that bubble but I'm just going on very little information. The guy might be a lot better than he is getting credit for.
It's a good problem to have from a program perspective. It has been a long time since we have been in a crunch like this. On the flip side, it sucks seeing good players not on the final roster for whatever the reason. We should probably get used to it, I think it will be a yearly thing in the future.

Redshirting how exactly
If they aren’t good enough this year, they won’t be next year

Johnson going to have to make some roster cuts to make the numbers work. Jobert and Merrifield may not make it.

It’s not about being good enough, it’s more about being able to hit your roster size.

It also means you are not good enough. No player is sticking around for that when they can play other places

I have heard Beloso is not returning.

I don't think I completely agree with this. I think in most cases you are correct, however I can see a case this season where that probably wouldn't apply. You have a stacked OF this season, I can see them talking to Mic Paul or Zeb Ruddell to redshirt with them understanding that you lose quite a bit in the OF next season.
Not saying they will or should. Just saying I think they are both good enough to play at LSU but this season will be tough to crack the lineup in the OF. So if you absolutely need to make roster room then that is an option.

That's interesting. What would be his next move?

Redshirting just has never really benefitted the player and makes even less sense now with the ability to transfer. No player worth a shite is going to waste it redshirting, and the program should not expect them too.
And then they just reload with another stellar Fr class & studs in the transfer portal?
You can either play or you can’t. This is lsu, there’s no time for redshirting players

Isn’t he a super senior which would not count towards the 40 man roster?

Good points. I think it would be a conversation between them and Jay. I agree that it shouldn't be expected from them. Would be the players call as far as wanting to redshirt and using all the facilities LSU has to offer vs going somewhere else to play. Whether it be somewhere to stay for their career or somewhere for a year like Delgado or LSUE then come to LSU next season.
It may not get to the point with the 2 guys I'm talking about. All depends on how the roster ends up.
