It took him a while. He just had Tommy John surgery not that long ago.

Was Guidry the only injury this year to our pitching staff?

I think with one off-season and one more pitch he will be good to go. 97 mph fastball is nice but every team in the SEC has 4 or 5 guys that can hit that speed. Location of his fastball and his nasty curve will get him in the rotation next season.

You're right about 1 more pitch. The curve ball is really slow compared to his FB and it's looked like hitters have enough time to adjust. Plus the shape is completely different.

If he can develop like Kade and pick up a good slider and change up with arm side run...he's going to be lethal. Needs some secondary pitches that aren't as drastic a drop off in velocity to make the curve more effective.

Finding the right way to use Shores. He went from average Sunday guy to top notch end of game guy

Someone else mentioned Sheerin but I have to feel like Dylan Thompson got hurt too. He didnt pitch all season long (well 1 quick appearance) and he looked like he had something to give based on fall/spring scrimmages (Different look out the pen)

Evans is a lock but Cooper Williams, Schmidt, Mayers are definitely in contention for Weekend slots next season
You can add Sheerin to that list as well. Not even counting Cowan, who I think could return.

If Cowan's back - he's your Sunday guy at worst.

ETA: Man, looking at it from a further view point, we could feasibily have this staff next year, before any recruits or transfers make their decisions (no particular order)

1. Evans
2. Schmidt
3. Rizy
4. Williams
5. Sheerin
6. Guidry
7. Mayers
8. Cowan
9. Noot
10. Fontenot
11. Primeaux

Now - Cowan, Guidry, Mayers, and Noot could go, but I think you get two of those back.

I think this is why we've slow played pitching in the portal. A ton of decisions have to be made between now and the draft. If you get like moderate development out of 2 of the freshman, you have a better staff in '26 than you did in '25.
