WTF are they doing. Gordon said the other day they don’t mind just paying it out over the next 6 years. He said they would prefer a lump sum negotiated but it wasn’t a huge deal.

Landry has his greasy fingers all over this. He is trying to destroy LSU athletics because he went to that little school across the bridge. He started this crap with that Omar last year.

blamed the governor for what? LSU made the contract and Kelly wants it honored....how is the governor to be blamed?

Yep. It’s an awful look.

Yea. No clue why people have a hardon for him lol. Gotta politic though!

Facts in evidence Landry is an idiot.

No doubt he is an idiot, but he isn’t to blame for this frickup. That’s on LSU.
Posted on 11/10/25 at 11:07 pm to Lakeboy7
Again...someone explain to me how Laundry is to blame for the contract that LSU gave Kelly.
Posted on 11/10/25 at 11:08 pm to IrishDave
He is too blame for what LSU is doing what now.

Unless in the language of the contract, I don't believe notice is required at all, especially for a cause based termination.
From his contract:
quote:
Knowingly committing material violation(s) of the terms of this Agreement; provided, however, that in each case, to the extent curable, Employee has not cured the circumstances constituting "cause" within seven days of written notice thereof from University.
After the expiration of the seven-day cure period set forth above without appropriate curative actions having been taken by Employee, but prior to termination for cause, Employee shall be provided with written notice of contemplated termination and a statement of the grounds and facts in support thereof and shall have an additional seven calendar days from receipt of such notice to respond in writing and/or present documents or other written evidence to the Athletics Director. After review of any such response, to, the Athletics Director or the Athletics Director's designee shall provide Employee written notice of a decision.
Within seven calendar days of receipt of the decision, Employee may make a written request for review to the President and submit materials for consideration. If no such request is made, the decision of the Athletics Director is final. If a request for review is made, the President or the President's designee shall conduct the review based on materials provided by the Employee and all materials considered by the Athletics Director.
Within 14 calendar days of the submission, Employee will be provided written notice of the decision of the President, which will be final.

Disagree. I totally support LSU fighting this and not paying Kelly. The message is: work hard and don't fool around, and you won't have to worry about being fired for cause.
I hope the case gets allotted to an LSU alum Judge with LSU memorabilia all over chambers.

He is the one pushing this fight on the contract.

LSU will lose in court. They will also lose any chance of getting a quality coach. You might as well keep Frank Wilson as coach.

I hope you never have anything to do with a court case in any way.

Everyone and their mother speculates everything.
Exactly what did he do that would lead to the for cause termination? Has some stuff leaked ?

It’s not the original contract we’re saying reeks of Landry, but rather LSU’s actions and strategy in executing his firing and the firing of Scott Woodward, the hiring of the interim AD and president, and our handling of Kelly’s buyout.
We already know Landry was intimately involved in firing Kelly and Woodward. He made it clear that he was going to politicize the buyout and making sure it wasn’t paid by taxpayers.
Now we’re refusing to pay Kelly’s buyout and claiming he wasn’t ever actually fired and Woodward actually superseded his authority and wait there’s this cause notice provision….it reeks of Jeff Landry getting way too involved in the firing process and not knowing what he was doing and now trying to untangle the mess he made. He’s also an obstinate blowhard who wants to be Trump so it’s right out of his playbook to be ok with making this ugly and trying to fight Kelly in public.
Shocker it’s why governors don’t get directly involved in the coach hiring and firing process

The ones cheerleading don't realize that. They are myopic. What agent would recommend LSU to their client when the view on LSU is 1) the governor is involved, 2) do we even have an AD with any power, 3) and we will fight you on a contract.
