Well Eddie smith coached up Tulane. LSU sucked except for a few players, who knows I’d be for it. If your players don’t buy in in no matter how good a coach you are. My personal opinion is these kids think they know how to hit. Some of thes kids think they know it all.

I think he is probably thinking that Walker has already made a name for himself, may not have any HC aspirations, and has spent the last 10 years or so commentating, so he wouldn’t be willing to grind it out like someone trying to make a name for himself.

They could say he was a great coach for the few years he was there and it still wouldn’t qualify him for this job.

It is a great by association ploy. No one knows if he can coach hitting, however, he probably could but that is NOT a valid reason yo hire Mike Bianco.

Great Doctor's don't always have the best bed side manor
Great athlete's don't always make the best coaches.
Most of the extremely good golfers I know have no idea how to teach a beginning golfer how to play. Have seen it hundreds of times.
Coaching is a separate skill set and not saying gifted athletes cannot coach at elite levels but not common

No. Todd Walker cannot teach hitting because you have to be the hitting coach, and he won’t be. Walker has no intention of being LSU’s hitting coach. He is just saying this to throw his weight behind the hiring of his friend.

The knock on him at Calvary Baptist was that he didn’t take the job too seriously.
He has some other business ventures that provide him mailbox money. I just don’t know if he’d be ready for the requirements of the job. At least long term. Hearing him speak on it, it sounds like the idea of coaching at LSU has a certain romanticism about it but he’s unsure if he’s willing to make that commitment knowing all that comes with it.
