Miles weathered as severe of a storm as you can imagine and managed to:
*Hire Aranda & Craig
*Solidify a consensus top 5 recruiting class
*Currently ranked in the Top 10 for 2017 recruiting
*Convinced key players not to declare early
(feel free to add what I'm missing)
Yes, results on the field matter. But to fire Miles without an absolute major home run hire lined up would be ridiculous. Miles retires at LSU unless the season becomes a total shite show which I don't see happening.

If we only win 9 games this regular season
A 9 win season in the SEC West is high performance
LSU program is on the rise now, 3 great recruiting years in a row, a 4th looking good for next year.
Upgrade at coaching staff
We are 1 position "QB" with better performance from this program getting to the championship series.

I would agree with you, but I can't name 5 coaches on a short list willing to come here that wouldn't be able to do better than Miles?
A huge problem with firing your coach is not having a better one to replace. Look at Tennessee. Look at Cal. Look at Miami Etc.....
Plus Bowden was a million years old too.

Last three years, 14-10 in the SEC, and 9-9 against the West. All with top recruiting classes.

Lol. Miles isn't ever going to get a good QB to come here.

Say what???
Not when those 3 losses are Bama, Ole Miss, and Arky.

Barring any game cancellations, I think 9 wins is the minimum of not getting fired. If he loses 4 during the regular season, I think that may push it over the edge, especially with our past couple of recruiting classes and a legitimate heisman candidate. However, it may be difficult to do without losing some of the studs coming on board next year.

now, that is some crazy resume material right there...we get rid of les, there will be a stampede of ADs making offers to him
If Richt can get the boot at UGA, I can easily see the same happening to Miles. Richt was 126-45 at UGA including 9 10-win seasons.
Really the only thing that separates them is the national championship, and that was nearly a decade ago now for Miles.
If UGA has taught us anything, it's that even if the coach is admired as a great human being, fans will eventually get pissed if the team keeps failing to win the division.

That was said about Bobby Bowden, too. But they still got rid of him, because those accomplishments were front-end loaded. Bowden was underperforming his last few years. So has Miles.
Bowden was 80 years old at the time. He was clearly on his way out regardless. He may have left a couple of years sooner than he wanted to, but he was a short timer. Les could easily have 10 or more good years left in him.

I also live in Georgia, and have witnessed the Richt career up close. Richt and Les and virtually the same guy. Great person, great recruiter, loved by all, but too often they underachieve.

Let's see how that works out for UGA. Right now they are praying on their knees it doesn't turn out like Texas.

UGA underachieved for many years with Richt, with a ton of talent. I would've pulled the plug on Richt several years earlier. But most people here in Georgia know it was time for a change. Regardless of what happens with Kirby Smart.
Same with Mack Brown. They couldn't continue down that path. They had no talent at all during Brown's last years. I'm not sure Charlie Strong is the answer, but Mack left that cupboard bare. Not so with Georgia.

The recruiting sites, if no one else, beg to differ. Perriloux, Jarrett Lee, Jefferson, Zach Lee, Mettenberger, Jennings, Harris were all highly recruited "good" QB's coming out of HS. Add in near misses with Franks and Gunner Kiel and you see that QB recruiting has actually been really solid under Miles for the most part.
It's the development and/or system that has hampered production.

If there are egg shells to be walked on, Les sure as Hell will be walking on them.......is what it is

Like I said. UGA folks are praying. People seem to forget that football is cyclical. Injuries, recruits that don't pan out, academic troubles, NFL poaching. Any one or combination of those can have effects for years. If a school goes without those issues for more than a year or two then they should hit their knees and thank God for their extraordinary luck. My point is that head coaches take way too much heat for things that have a huge effect on a program. And when you let a good one go, 98 % of the time you end up screwing yourselves.

3rd best record in the SEC. You know the SEC, right? The best football conference in all of college football.

9-9 against the West
Save for Bama, pretty much every school in the West has the same record or worse. You know the West, right? The most powerful division of any college football conference in the NCAA owning 3 teams with NCs in the last 9 yrs.
You really need to find some new material cause this stuff you keep posting is more than a little weak. imo

Surely you understand the significant difference between the miles tour of duty at LSU and the Richt Tour of duty at Georgia or did I miss George's two championship game appearances under Richt?

The difference is Bowden had lost control of the FSU program. Les continues to recruit at a high level and at least for now is keeping it together. LSU is a long way from where FSU was when Bowden was shown the door.
Plus we have never had the thug reputation that was a hallmark of FSU under Bowden.

Given the landscape of college football, I think its ridiculous for anyone to include him...It is a wish of the Negatards....they so want someone of Art Briles character....
