I wish the wind wasn't blowing in.....and after Jones cracks a 3 run home run to give us a 5-1 lead over that cocky pos, that joins casually asks him as he is jogging to first base, what he thought of that.....lol.
I'm sure there will be some chatter in that regard on the field this afternoon if in fact we go ahead and close them out.

Agreed on all CC accounts of being cocky. Those cocky CC players were not ready for the likes of Kade.
As I've said in another thread the cocky attitude emulates from that CC coach hiding under his black/green ball cap.

If Morrison throws as many pitches right down the middle as Flukey did, I hope LSU will be more aggressive. I'm not saying it's easy to hit 98, but we took so many pitches down the middle, and really no one but Milam seemed to adjust. I was bewildered by that.
I'm all for being patient, but there's a difference between patient and being passive. Great pitching and defense for LSU in this game. Hope to see our bats a bit more engaged tomorrow

I’m not sure as to what the strategy was but many older fans may remember when Skip used to be criticized for having batters take the first pitch or two to drive up the pitch count. It worked.
That's not a strategy that was unique to him. You do that with pitchers who you want to get out of the game early, and who you believe will be out of the zone, looking for chases. We were facing a pitcher who had walked only 22 batters all season long, and we were constantly behind in the count by just sitting there. As a result, we did not get him out early, nor did we have success. We won because of pitching and defense.
That's why I said there is a difference between being patient and being passive. LSU was passive, knowing they were getting strikes, and allowed themselves to be shut down way easier.
The reverse happened against the Arkansas starter on Wednesday. He was throwing junk out of the zone, and LSU kept fishing after it. That was a guy who LSU needed to approach the way they did yesterday. I don't know why our hitters aren't making in game adjustments to what's going on. Jay saw what was going on, and he told the reporter (in that silly in-game interview that they insist on doing) that the hitters needed to "see it early". Meaning he wanted them to be aggressive. So that tells me that standing with the bat on the shoulder was not the game plan.

Jay's not stupid. He's not going to tell his guys to fall behind in the count with a strike thrower on the mound. As I just stated in a post right before this one, Jay indicated in the in-game interview that he wanted them to be aggressive early, because, I would assume, he saw what the rest of us could see. So, I don't think yesterday's approach was at all the plan. And it won't be today, either, because their starter today is also a strike thrower. You can't be passive against those guys. It is counter productive.

Depending on how far you take confidence it can easily become cocky. There’s a fine line and they’ve jumped over it

quote:Exactly. I legit started laughing out loud when Karl Ravech said two teams with championship pedigrees.
Yes they won a nc. Let's not act like they are some baseball power. This is their second trip to Omaha ever. No, whether they win or lose this series, they aren't close to LSU standards or many other programs. Quit trying to make them that.

CC is a very good team, a right handful. LSU will need a lot more offense today if they expect to win.

quote:and LSU is the powerhouse of college baseball and yet we show class in all phases with high character and humility, showing the utmost respect for opponents. Jay pushes this. Our "heads" are not to big for who we are. Coastal's is .... you said what they are, their heads are way to big. This is a side effect of immaturity. Attitude reflects leadership. But yet murry state and their coach showed nothing but high character. Ill take Murry State all day.

I'm not saying they aren't good but their heads are too big for who they are.
For who they are? They were a national seed, a former national championship team, who by the way, beat LSU at Alex Box when they won the whole thing. It's not like they're Murray st
The dick look on coastals coach during the trophy pics with Jay was enough for me. Dude is a tool. Then he tries to act like they lost because of their record. Narcissist in action. He has CC admins fooled. Thats why he has never left Coastal.

The strikes right down the middle on strike 3 was killing me. At least give yourself a chance.

Reminds me of the all world closer for Wake Forest.
And we know how that turned out.

He did pitch a hell of a game and had 9 K’s. Only gave up a run. And that was because his short stop screwed up.
Not like we shelled the guy. Anderson was just better
We will need more than 1 run to win tonight.

As much as I hate to say it, we should have swung at the first pitch more often last night. His strategy seemed to be to groove one right down the middle on the first pitch. It was often the best pitch to hit.

Too bad they’re about to get their shite kicked in by the greatest baseball program of all time

Maybe they will do it again today and we will be ready for it.
