quote:dead on, tailgating is a joke these days compared to 5 years ago. tailgating is WORK, and not many want to do it. it's almost like the grove.
Tailgating has been better than the game for over a decade, and now tailgating is just getting worse and worse

The stadium use to be loud and full even back in the day when LSU wasn’t any good.
No, it wasn't. In the 1990s I had entire sections of the stadium to myself.

* It’s Les Miles who coached here 5-6 years too long, bringing fatigue to the fan base.
* our cocksucking piece of shite AD throws gas on the fire every chance he gets.
* frick our entire administration. The only thing needing to be purged is the 6th floor of the administration building. Half of them are only there after waiting their turn after being student workers.
Gross Negligence in the AD at all levels are the main cause of all the BS we're talking about.
Who can fix it? FKA/BOS/TAF are the only people than can.

You are correct about that. I go to 3-4 games a year and for a long time I parked in the grass front of Kirby and chilled for several hours with some buddies and beer.
Now it’s not even available anymore. I have to park way down Nicholson. I’ve lost what little tailgating I had.
Get off my lawn.

I’ve been a season ticket holder for 15 years, and drive 150 miles to games. The problem is not the team, Coach O, Joe Alleva, etc. It’s a combination of factors: games
on TV every week, tailgating that’s become more important than the game for many,
expansion of the stadium without improvements to roads and highways (2 lane Highland,
Nicholson South, River Road, Dalrymple), and the decline over many years of the once
rabid fan base.
The administration are kidding themselves if they think that alcohol, improved concessions, etc., will reverse this trend. It’s up to the fans who attend the games to show some regard for the players who train year-round and spend countless hours at practice, by staying until the end of the game to support the team.

Yeah, but back then there wasn't wide spread internet on cell phones and the TV quality was crap.
This is probably the real reason more than anything else. Even Bama is reducing their seating capacity. People can watch the games from home, while on the couch, while driving, working, etc. and also don't have to pay the ridiculous concession prices.
True, the corporate side of things has affected the college game atmosphere but ultimately I think it is the simple convenience of technology that has affected most of all.

Seating capacity is one thing, but frick, why does half the stadium leave at halftime regardless of score or opponent? except Bama.

Miami of Ohio and UAB say hello.
You lose one you should win once in a while. It happens.

Yep.
Frankly, the game day experience is boring. Too many commercials of "Hey Tiger Fans....buy this shite" along with too many TV timeouts. I remember games where all we did was yell but today, a timeout is taken for everything.
Games take to long, tailgating is becoming a hassle, concessions are weak, internet signals are bad (especially for the younger peeps) and the alternative of watching the game at your house or a bar becomes stronger.

Give us something to care about. They're half asleep out there.
This is such a bullshite argument being LSU Offense got up on LaTech. Our team mimicked our fan base come out strong then go flat, our fan base comes out then half out of there

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but a couple of years ago Saban called the fan base out for leaving early.
Posted on 9/26/18 at 5:29 pm to TNTigerman
I think he did. I wish our coach would do the same.
Bama seems to be the only game fans stick out.
The only other one I can think of is Ole Miss from a few years ago when we won 10-7.

He called out the student section for sure. He said we need to get rid of preferred seating for groups like the Greeks and others that have reserved sections. Needless to say, order was restored by next game. They knew he wasnt playin.

UGA likely will. I’ll be at Ole Miss and State and I’ll gladly post second half pics of the stadium in this thread. Are you willing to make a wager? You sound pretty confident.

A modern, exciting offense that's fun to watch sure as hell wouldn't hurt.

Mr. Embarrassing. What is embarrassing? Why not strap on a Helment and some pads. Let's see who is embarrassed.

Because I pay thousands of dollars a year to go as much or as little as I want.
I agree. It's your choice just as it is my choice.
But look at it from the players' perspective. They don't know about parking, concessions, or traffic until they leave. They just know that it looks like people don't care when they are still playing for victory and the stands look nearly empty.
My son played college ball and he said it was always disappointing when the stands were less than full. Just a view from the other side. But it is your money, and mine, and we both can come & go as we please. But if I go to the game, I am staying. After all, we only get 6-7 chances in TS per year.

Saban's called the students out for leaving early, not the rest of the crowd. The others stayed.
