One good thing about the Combine is the strict testing, and the exact same testing conditions for ALL, easier to compare.

Hard to put a lot of credibility into these types of workouts. Delpit is a great player regardless.

Hand timed. Might as well have used a sun dial.

still would be in the 4.4-4.5 range electronically which is still good for him at 213

I think hes also being hurt by this projection of him playing free safety, which he did a lot more this year, when he should be projected as a strong/big nickel safety. He’s at his best around the LOS and I’m not really sure why the media keeps projecting him as a deep safety when that’s not what he’s strongest at.

He's a way better free safety than box safety considering his range and his lack of ability to consistently tackle. He's a guy you want free ranging deep to pick off slightly off passes. He showed that ability multiple times here to close a huge distance in a short amount of time.

I love Delpit and I think he will be a pro-bowl caliber guy. But I never saw that kind of speed on the field at LSU

Watch his 2018 highlights.

But yes, 40's are still a thing. Baseline measures have long been establish, and its beneficial to see where guys stand.

Of course they are a thing. Speed is crucial. However, the whole "hand-timed" vs. "electronic timed" is not a big deal. With the exception of outright fraud, the difference isn't significant enough to mean that much.

Fast is fast and a few 1/100 don't matter.

Delpit played well towards the back-end of the season but it’s tough having a junior safety that already knows he’ll be drafted high. Too tempting to just sit back there and wait to be a millionaire.

Yea, like I said, every scout at the combine is using a stopwatch anyway.

Never thought he was really falling out of it anyway

If Xavier McKinney is a R1 then Grant was never falling out

Only way would've been if Safety class was super deep or if there was real medical concern

Yea, multiple scouts hand time and they compare and get an accurate range. If the margin of error was +/- .05, then he would be 4.34-4.44, which is fast as shite at his size.

If Delpit is not a first round player, then there are some morons, in charge of player evaluation. He has made more big plays than any player that I can remember. That takes a great knowledge of the game as well as unique physical abilities to make those plays.
In the championship game, Delpit causes a fumble, the announcer, Herbstreit, praises Stingly for the turnover.

I felt that way all along but I know a lot of people didnt. As good as his 18' tape was, his 19' was just as bad.

You're such a shite poster. Literally just above this you talk about timing at a Pro Day and parsing out how scouts can take laser and hand timed results and make sense of them using context and experience.

Then you shite post about his '19 tape without providing the context of an obvious injury that made him gimpy through the stretch run of the season and u\p that to paint the entire year's worth of tape.

You talk out of both sides of your mouth anytime you need to provide confirmation to your preconceived notions. Laughable, predictable and tired. All at the same time.

I mean, there are plenty analysts that have questioned Delpit from this year. Lester isn't breaking any ground there.

There were plenty of analysts that questioned our defense because of one bad half in a blowout too. Doesn't make their takes any less ridiculous.

They all say his 2019 tape is a perfect inverse to his 2018 tape? That should be easy to back up with many links.

Even if that’s mid-4.4s on laser, that’s in line with where he needs to be.
