This really never made sense based on what we've seen out of him in his career.
This. I think with as much uncertainty in the pitching staff a lot of people turned to the vets thinking 1 would step into the Friday night role but it was always going to be one of the newcomers/younger players to step into that ultimately. Nobody seemed to know who that would be though.

There is no reason to think that any pitcher besides the starters will get in the game with it being close.

hammered as in drunk or he was getting bombs hit off of him?

There are 4 games this weekend also, I think we'll get to see every pitcher they have available this weekend.

Yes, that is why I said we would see all the pitchers this weekend. I don't think any of them will not be available. None threw a high number of pitches on Wednesday. Also take into consideration UNO on Wednesday. I would assume they will use that more as a bullpen type game that way everyone would be available in Houston next weekend.

Don't think it's an injury. He just didn't hit well in preseason practices. He still strikes out a ton.
Drost’s bat speed is slower than Beau Didier’s.

Ouch
I feel like its more his pitch recognition, or lack there of

It's a little weird how raw Drost is coming from Barbe.
I guess they focus more on recruiting than coaching there.

Leave Beau alone!
Beau’s OPS in 2009 was 5.000

1-1 with a HR was the best season in LSU history

Yeah, I just figured they decided to have fotenot as a closer or something like a setup guy for reyzelman, I guess they flipped that around though and devin will close.
They were open to him starting when jay got here I’m sure, the coaches probably realized that he’d be best as a closer after evaluating the roster and being the team guy that devin is, I’m sure he agreed to that when it was pitched to him that him as a closer was the best way for him to help us win

Games to watch this weekend: ULL @ Stanford Duke @ Baylor Bama @ Texas Tulane @ La Tech Northwestern LA @ Oklahoma
These are are all very interesting games if you're also a fan of Louisiana college baseball, and not just LSU.

It appears so. Im to the point i dont even
Get excited about prospects coming here from there that can hit.
The jared fosters, beau jordan, and brody drosts all came in so raw

Not that he went to Barbe, but I hope Stevenson gets a bunch of innings this weekend.

I didn't watch Foster and Drost in high school, but I've seen Beau play since he was a 13 year old. I don't think that he was raw at all. He's consistently played against top notch competition, and as high school coaches go, Cecchini is one of the best.

Yes, I'm also interested to see him get some ABs. Also Pearson. The way he hit in his summer league and then was productive at the plate in the fall and spring impressed me for a freshman. He seems to find a way to get on base.

Pearson didn’t have great games in the OF that I saw. Maybe not as bad as Berry though.

Def want to see Stevenson roaming in the OF and Pearson getting some hacks. Also want to see more of Bianco and Travinski.
