re: Fire Beth Torino Immediately

Just jumping in to say I thought it was strange in her press conference she emphasized having no one to go to but Berzon last game when heveaner has been fantastic. Just thought it was bizarre she fell on throwing Berzon who is apparently without a a leg and and an arm instead of someone we’ve consistent leaned on, and Beth openly says she had absolutely no one she could rely on but Berzon.

So Beth has 44 folks who worship her. I'd say most of them are her staff and want to keep their jobs while some of them are family members. You may have one or two dumbasses in there, too.
But the majority of fans want Beth gone, like now!

Sorry I offended you GOAT. ??

I’d rather keep her and whatever her buyout is, use that to buy good men’s basketball players.

Well latest reports are they keeping her..

Jacques Doucet of WAFB reports that LSU Softball head coach Beth Torina is expected to return to the team next year despite the Tigers' disappointing postseason and early exit from the Baton Rouge regional.
Torina has been LSU's head coach since 2012 and has an overall record of 578-253 (.696) and 173-141 (.551) in the SEC. The Tigers have made it to the postseason in every year since Torina took over, but have not reached the Women's College World Series since 2017.
LSU went 42-16 (12-12 SEC) this past season and finished 9th in the SEC

I'm a fan and support Beth. I'm not on the staff, I am not family. I've met her a few times and she seems nice. Please read the entire post before you throw pitchforks
I see myself as rational and not overly emotional. You don't just pull the plug on someone who has HOSTED a regional 9 of the last 10 years unless you have "softball Mulkey" waiting in the wings, which you don't because that person does not exist.
If you fire her just for the sake of firing her, you run a HUGE risk of finding someone who will get worse results over the long run.
LSU Softball is MUCH closer to being "really really good" than being "really really bad", hard as that may to believe at this moment.
Beth said after the loss the program made some strides this season....which offensively is actually true in a couple of ways, but I wish she would have saved that comment for another time because nobody was in the mood for it after losing to SLU twice.
In the first year with a new hitting coach and losing a core of 4 starters from last year, LSU actually scored the 2nd most runs in program history and finished with the 2nd highest batting average...and that was with the offense tanking the last 6 games. So someone was doing something right.
The lineup was flawed in that there were too many non-power lefties stacked at the bottom. The offense definitely needs another big slugger in the middle. And they need a starting outfielder and 3rd baseman from the portal.
If Berzon gets healthy and is her old self and if Heavener can take the next step, the pitching can be great. She probably needs an arm in the portal unless there is a freshman incoming who is good (I really don't follow recruiting)
It's no excuse, but drawing SLU as a 4-seed was absolutely horseshite. They should have been the 3 and UConn the 4. If that is flipped, I think we at least make it to Sunday, but I don't think we would have beaten Nebraska either way.
All this to say...as disgusted as we were after the regional, Beth has earned the right to try to get this fixed next year, given what should be coming back. Also--just like with McMahon, she probably needs a few $$$ for the portal to fill some needs.
BUT....this is it. A regional loss next year should probably be the end of the road and the final chance and I am out on defending the situation. I think the administration probably feels the same.

You lost twice at home to SLU. The end.

I’ve said this all along. It didn’t happen today so it isn’t going to happen. As long as Beth is hosting regionals and finishing around .500, SW is okay with it. Softball is low on his priority list.
I don’t like it but that’s reality. And yes, if she didn’t already know it, she now knows she is untouchable.

And thankfully you aren't in charge. That is an emotional response that doesn't see the whole bigger picture. And I doubt you read my entire post.

I think people overestimate how much feeling the administration puts into sports that aren't the big 3(hell it's really not even 3 here). Just look how far women's basketball fell before something happened. I'm sure they want to be back in OKC but I doubt there will ever be an OKC or bust mandate for the #5/6 program on campus. Even most of the people melting about this weekend didn't care at all until there was a melt to join in on.

Nope. She's had years to get it fixed. She obviously can't or won't do what needs to be done. If rumors are true about some of her upperclassmen planning to hit the portal, as well as Neal looking to get away from her, it's not a good look and it shows a vote of no confidence on behalf of her staff and players. She's had her chances and blown every one. Time to pull her plug.

Hmmm… keep her because she’s nice. Where have I heard that before?

Probably started by the same guy whose "Berzon is in the portal" thread got whacked earlier today.
Don't believe everything you see or hear in the web

Exactly. And fortunately most of those people have forgotten about it because they have found something else to be outraged about.

I hope they all fricking leave. She is a fricking cancer: it takes years to metastasize, but then just kill you. You feel fine until you don’t. Just OK is not OK.
