It definitely was an interesting decision. But what PM said about the rain makes sense. If there's a 1.5 hour rain delay at 1:00, you lose him for the game anyway. Might as well let him pitch the rest of this game.

I don't really follow baseball very often. Is it really that big of a deal to throw 12 pitches? Why are the announcers so concerned?

Yeah, the guys were pumped, but Stony Brook is for real, don't underestimated them...but that 1st win was BIG!!

Cannot argue with the logic. Team that wins Game One of the SR goes to Omaha 77% of the time. Add in the rain concerns, and it makes for a fine decision to run the ace out there.
Besides, Gausman must be loaded with sugary donut power this early in the morning!
