Closer to B.
"Greatly doubting" is too strong but I will be watching closely to see what he does about the obvious problems with the co-dcs. AND this 2008 team did not seem well coached at all.

B-If he doesn't hire a new DC, then it would be A.

Alright Lester, I have been A from day one on this. I've never liked the Miles hire, but I've given him a chance. I've made my criticisms of him and given him praise when deserved. I was happy for LSU last year, but I wasn't excited. While proud for our team, we backed into the title game, and anyone who says differently is a mook. There is nothing wrong with accepting that last year's NC had more luck involved in it than any imaginable.
We won because of talent and coaching the previous 3 years, I agree. We also won because of Leadership from players that Miles didn't get to first. Miles has been the reason we have won several games, and he's been the reason we've lost several games. This team looks a lot more like Miles' Okie State teams that had less talent. That is what scares me.
He's a good coach, and no one will say otherwise, but he has serious issues with discipline, leadership, favoritism, personnel decisions, and playcalling/game management, which are all showing this season.
Knowing he's an offensive guy, he chose to cut down on his defensive coaching staff (as Bo left) and instead of replacing him with a new DC, he just took 75% of our staff from last year and let them run it. This was utterly stupid and shows Miles lack of common sense.
We have 1 quality win all season. ONE! Our schedule ended up being a joke, and please don't give me the Bama was better than everyone thought. Bama is 11-0 because the toughest teams on their schedule all ended up sucking this year. Including UGA, LSU, Auburn, and Clemson. Tulane played them as hard as those schools.
Overall, in a year when the SEC as a whole is crap, we end up 3rd in our division at best. Third with the most talent in the division by a clear margin.

Coice A - I am still reserving judgement, which is what I have said all along.

No, I am not a liar. I've always been against the Miles hire. From the start, I thought it was going on the cheap by Bertman.
The guy is a good Mid-level coach, but he showed no consistency. He shows no leadership aside from "I have a damn strong football team, have a nice day!".
Players that were brought up under him show no discipline or leadership, plain and simple, and if you don't think you can win on talent alone, look at Coker. The dude was horrible, but made Miami a potential team of the decade. He lived off of what Davis built and once the leadership from under Davis left, the team started to fall apart. Plain and simple.
Simply because I wasn't on this board for the past half decade like you probably have been, does NOT mean I wasn't thinking those thoughts or believing what I did.
I really am starting to realize why you are such a big talker on here. You really have to be compensating for something as all you do is continually just attack other fans who disagree with you, yet have nothing to back it up. It's like the guy with the little dick trying to bring down others so you don't feel as shitty about yourself.

2005 - Top 5 finish
2006 - Sugar Bowl Title and Top 5 finish

frick, if that isn't consistency, then I don't know what is...

I've always been wary of Miles yet agreed he's done great these last years. You can't deny that.
Looking at his track record you can't deny he is our most successful coach yet.
I've just wondered how would he be when really tested.
All coaches have bad years. We'll find out this year. Will he be a DiNardo and let his loyalty ruin him? Or will he do the right thing and correct the problem.
There's no question the team is getting away from him.
He's a good man. Being a good man doesn't mean being a good coach.
I think he is a good coach. But if he doesn't make painful (for him) adjustments and do what needs to be done (whatever that is) then he will contribute to his doom.
What Miles is being paid for is for the enhancement of LSU football. Not for his personal friendships, etc. I think he knows that.
With Shepard coming and his latest recruiting class, then the real nut is the 2010 season. If 2009 is mediocre then that is understandable. But Miles should be playing for and even winning the SEC title in 2010.

A) I have been concerned about Miles all along and the recent meltdown is what i expected
If there is an archive of old posts from 2006 and 2005 you can verify that I have been saying this all along.

Bob, based on past history dating back decades, please post what you would consider a great 3 year run by an SEC team.
realistically
I'll hang up and listen.

because last year, after the BCS game, in a "coach of the year thread", you posted this:

B) Although I will join the lynch mob if he does not make some changes with the defensive coordinators.

Again, people said wait until he at least has his players in before judging him and this year is that year. The other years he had leadership that were coaches and players coached by the previous staff. Hell on offense, JR and Flynn were developed for 4 years by Jimbo. DL was coached by Dunbar, I believe up until 2006, when Earl came in. The reality is that leadership on this team seems to be non-exsitent, and Miles has continued to make bone-head mistakes that even a novice coach wouldn't.
In the long run, he won. DiNardo and Coker did too. I am in no way suggesting firing Miles. He hasn't merited it in any way. I am just saying that their have been serious issues with his coaching since he's been here.
