Time to suck it up and bring Andy back home. Who cares about his shacking up.

Yep, you're drunk.

Youre telling me that there weren't two situations tonight where a fly ball or a grounder to the first base side would score a run?

Because if you're saying that then youre a liar and there were not just a couple of those situations but several. Hitting was lacking tonight. You know how I know? Because I watched the game and only saw two tigers cross the plate when 5 should have.

My only question centers on the fact that we do almost zero creatively on the bases and hitting. Our situational hitting is almost nil. Do we bunt ever (I know we have, but barely). We put almost zero pressure on a defense. 11 runners on base and nothing. That just doesn’t seem sound to me and I played some in college.

tonight we didn't get the lead runner on enough. I think we got the lead runner on 3 times and scored in 2 of those innings. We also grounded into a double play one inning when we got the first two runners on base. Believe it was the 6th. That's a situation Paul maybe should have tried a bunt, but Bryce was batting so I'm not sure if he can bunt. Another could have been a bigger inning but for Cabrera's base running mistake. We stole two bases and called for some hit and runs, but if you aren't making good contact at the plate, it doesn't really matter how aggressive you try to be.

Don’t worry. I’m told this team will start playing well at some point

We'll improve in time, but I'm just not sure it will be a dramatic improvement like last year. Hopefully they start to gel soon.

Broussard bunted once. Then Jordan showed bunt when broussard stole second. I don't think more bunts are the answer but I do wish we tried to steal and hit and run a bit more. It really sucked when Hughes hit into that bases loaded double play. But as someone else mentioned you need those moments to find out who deserves to be in your lineup. And tonight makes it hard to justify leaving Hughes at SS despite his glove

unfortunately right now we don't have much of a choice. No one else on the roster can play short right now

Good points and I see what you’re saying. Sometimes that’s happens. I just remember being told that sometimes when things aren’t falling you have to get creative and force the defense to play. If you’re playing a pitcher who throws a certain way and you know it, do something different. Hell. ULL bunted 3 times in a row. Granted we made a mental mistake and the situation allowed for it but they didn’t HAVE to do that. They got creative. We have speed. Let’s force some teams to make errors. But you’re right. We didn’t get the lead off on enough.

On the other hand Reid came up with a big base hit and some nice plays at 3rd. It's good to know you have that depth. Unfortunately he also had an untimely strike out. But it's nice to have those options at 3rd so Smith can go back to SS or for when Slaughter or Bryce is struggling

One of Skip's famous sayings was "You can't bunt your way to Omaha."

Hahaha. True. I’m not talking about more bunts just about creating some pressure on the defense. That got us pretty far last year! It’s early though.

We have some speed but not as much as we're used to. The Jordans, Reid, Webre, and Feduccia all have average to below average speed. Cabrera has decent speed. That's 6 of the 9 bats in the lineup tonight. Dups went 0 for 5 tonight. Watson got on in the first and scored. He didn't get on base again until the 9th. Broussard got on base 3 times. First time he got on, he stole second, couldn't get him in. Second time he got on base, he was left at 2nd base again after he advanced on a hit and run ground out by Duplantis. Third time he got on in the 9th and again was left stranded on 2nd. Hughes only got on base once. We just didn't get our speed guys on base enough and in good situations to be aggressive. Dups going 0 for 5 really hurt tonight.
