The hype is based on what OSU fans and coaches thought of him. Do yourself a favor, go to your podcast app and listen to the OSU podcast from Spring when he was competing and listen to what they thought of him . He and Haskins were viewed as 1a and 1b - both worthy of leading the team . This is a leader with all the measurables and according to those who know him best- all the intangibles.
Our fan base has come to expect the worst case scenario. It’s become self- loathing. Maybe, just maybe , you could listen to those podcasts, read what his teammates and OSU sportswriters say, and enjoy the fact that we won the cfb QB lottery.

Ignore his highlights in high school and everything everyone says about him on a TV.
You know how we watch other teams this past decade and see QBs who are pointing and barking orders and going through all progressions quickly, and then makes a good decision with good accuracy?
We've got that for the first time in at least 10 years. Nothing to do with arm strength or mobility or who coached him before. Everything to do with intelligence, command of the offense before the snap, and composure after the snap. And yes, you can gauge these things in the small windows of playing time he has had.

I think there's reason for optimism with Burrow, but per usual, some people just get too carried away with it.

It’s coming from the fact that LSU fans have been waiting 10+ years for a “serviceable” QB & the other 3 on the roster haven’t been able to separate themselves, so Burrow comes in as hope. It also helps that he’s spent 3 years under the tutelage of one of the best HC/QB in the country. We are grasping for qb . straws!

No, you really can’t. That was his point. He’s played garbage time minutes up 7 touchdowns vs really bad teams. Spring games aren’t helpful either. You can’t even tackle the q.b much less blitz. Schiano wasn’t dialing up exotic nickel packages with the 2nd and 3rd string.
He’s thrown 15 more total passes in college than Myles Brennan. He’s never started a game in his life much less in the SEC. He might win 2 heismans and be the best QB LSU has ever had. But thinking he definitively will be incredible isn’t based on actual, realistic evidence
