I was all in on the Brian Kelly hire. I felt it was the first good coach we had brought in after a long time. I don’t think his lack of success was due to coaching ability, he just could never assemble a strong offense and defense at the same time. When there was pushback, his ego would get in the way. I worry the same thing could happen with Kiffin. Deep down, I wish we had Mike Elko as our coach.

The credit is due to Denbrock, not BK. Kelly’s success has been tied to Denbrock for ever.

Not all of us:

In all of his time at ND he’s faced 11 top 10 opponents. His record against them is 3-8. Most of those losses by 14 or more. Miles had a better overall record at LSU than Kelly does at ND. What makes this a home run? Is it just because we were able to poach him from ND when no one though it was possible?

Actually we did well in the beginning. We had a huge turnaround and won the West.

But after that BK coasted.

Coming to Baton Rouge was a bigger mistake for him than for us. Yes he is richer. But his illustrious hall of fame career was destroyed for ever.

He was at a place where he was really successfull. He inherited a broken program and did well to turn it around rather quickly. He goes 10-4, 10-3 and 9-4. That is nothing to scoff at against the toughest competition.

This is year, he was playing with a hurt QB, a new o-line that just did not pan out and running game which was non existant mainly because of the OCs lack of commitment to the running game.

He would have turned it around....if given a chance....and for $52 million....
we should have given him that chance.

In 2024 Ole Miss had the most expensive roster in the country and they went 10-3, 5-3. We went 9-4, 5-3 with a win against them. This year, they had nowhere near as great a roster and they have won 2 games in the playoffs. Last year they had a NFL QB and were not that successfull. This year they had a division 2 QB and are in the playoffs.

Tennessee did not win a natty with Payton Manning in 1997. In 1998 they won with a guy called Tee Martin as a QB. We won a natty with Matt Flynn but not the year before with Jamarcus Russell and Joe Addai.

The best teams often do not win a natty and sometimes less talented teams win one.

Because the portal is unpredictable....sometimes transfers pan out and are a roaring success like Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels...Sometimes they are a resounding failure like this years o-line.

Simply throwing money at the problem does not solve it. Consistent efforts do...

Next year with a 9 game brutal SEC schedule + Clemson to start the season and a complete offensive and 1/2 defensive rebuild, we will be lucky to go 8-4. $110 million well spent you think?

That's due to us having higher expectations. It was time for BK to go, but he won the West in his first year, had a Heisman winner, had winning seasons every year and won all 3 bowl games he coached in. Auburn and Florida combined had 1 winning season over that same time period.

Ironically, without Nuss he would still have a job!
If McWoodward hadn't have intervened and initiated the "Looney Tunes Brad Davis Protection Plan" BK might still have a job. (Even with Joe Sloan in place) That's how incompetent BD was and how overwhelmingly bad the OL was) Farewell & Adieu and time to move on from that shite. Kiffin, Wolford and Cregg will fix the OL.

Hiring BK was the single worst financial and program destroying decision ever made by LSU. Quite frankly LSU would be in the wilderness for several years, if it weren't for the portal and apparently all the money available for the portal. It is all mind boggling to me, but as much as I hate the portal and some of its rules, I am thankful that LSU can be relevant again very quickly.

One of my least favorite internet posts is the retro ‘I told you so,’ where someone victory-laps an entire forum like they knew any better. go frick yourself little man.

Kelly’s mistake was not developing or moving on from Nuss. Once it was discovered Nuss couldn’t run, that should’ve been the end of that.
