Imagine if LF got to play with KC..or Rams, or Saints, or Ravens etc. Imagine LF in LSU’s offense last year. Come on..let’s not retroactively diminish one of the greatest studs to ever put on an LSU Jersey. Or should I say the University of LSU?

Fournette is eventually go somewhere other than Jacksonville, he’s gonna have a ton of money on the line, and in that season (provided he goes somewhere that’s not a complete shite show) he’s going to be one of the best, if not the best, back in the league.
My question is what he does after that.

Fournette literally spend 3 months in Wyoming last offseason working with his former LSU strength coach to get in great shape for the season. How can his work ethic be put into question without referencing this?

You are spot on about the first man miss problem. It's actually that he's too easy to tackle. I got blasted for saying this his freshman year but all you have to do is swipe at his feet and he goes down. If you take him on high he will truck you! But go at his toes and he's down.
I'm proud LF7 was a Tiger but the most good he did at LSU was that he challenged guys like Guice and CEH to be better.

Y’all are fricking crazy. He is easily the best LSU running back I’ve ever watched.
“But meh Bama game”
Did you see our offense? fricking garbage. Fournette was incredible.

The problem is the team he plays for - everyone wants out of Jacksonville. No players are "buying in" - especially with Coughlin in charge (who they finally had to fire last year).
There is so much fail in this thread but you have hit the nail on the head. Coughlin wanted a big workhorse back like he had at NYGs when he was coaching. Problem is he has not put anything around it. He had no Eli (in his prime) or much else for that matter. The only way a battering ram back works is if there is a threat to throw it over the top. Actually, LF has never been a big run up the gut guy anyway. He has always been good at hitting the green space and hauling arse.

You obviously don't keep up with this team.

The problem here has been the drafting of players just like Leonard Fournette. Sure the NFL is a business but players like Dante Fowler, Jalen Ramsey, Telvin Smith, and LF are divas and these divas are cancer to the TEAM sport of football
Funny how all these bad apples ended up in Jacksonville. I think it’s more like the organization is the problem, rather than they just happened to have the bad luck to draft all the divas.

He was allowed to do what he wanted. Example: Night before the Alabama game at home he is allowed to attend and be backstage at Weezy’s concert. Everyone else is in the bus and at the hotel in Gonzales. Fact. He played like shite the next day, missing several holes that would have been big runs. Everyone blamed Less and the O line, but many folks in this board pointed out the holes he missed. No one really said anything about the concert at the time, but he was there.

In my opinion, he's never had to work crazy hard to dominate the sport in his entire life. But when he got into the NFL, everyone is a freak and to separate yourself you need to have that killer work ethic, which he never developed over the years.
This guy nailed it.
LF was bigger, stronger, faster, in the 8th grade, than Jr’s & Sr’s in High School. He was, by far, the most talented RB in the state his Freshman year at St Aug.
When he arrived at LSU, he was, again, bigger, stronger, faster than virtually every RB in the country.
Everything came easy to LF. Not that he didn’t work his butt off, but he simply didn’t have to dig down deep & give that extra effort others do.
By the time he got to the NFL, others caught up to him. He simply couldn’t just show up and be the biggest, strongest, fastest. It’s damn hard to turn a switch and all of a sudden have that edge others, less talented, developed over years of having to over-achieve to just make it to the NFL.

ITs amazing how the team got progressively worse as they dumped those players
Clearly they were the problem

I have nothing to base this on but I always thought he was an immature diva. I welcome your downvotes

McCaffrey is $16 - base of whole offense
Zeke is at $15 - base of whole offense
LeVeon Bell - $13 way overpaid unless he has a major return to form
David Johnson $13 - way overpaid
Henry - $10 Franchised
Kenyon Drake - $8 transition tag
Melvin Gordon - $8 2 year deal
Barkley $7.6 - rookie contract
Fournette - Rookei Contract
Fournette is a steal compared to those contracts. Sure CMC is everything to the panthers and set a bunch of statistical records, but they went 5-11 last year. Zeke and bell are more divas than fournette. DJ and Henry have had one great season each and the rest have been average at best. Drake is a change of pace guy. Gordon is done. Barkley is a stud but an expensive one.

Fournette only gave us about 80 % most of the time with us.
He was in a Les Miles offense that was horribly predictable and defenses stacked their whole team on the line basically to stop him. I remember him trying to play hurt against UF. Wasn't a great move, but it wasn't like he was just trying to chill on the sidelines. Not sure where you're getting that he just gave 80% his whole time here.

Miles offense broke his spirit.

I was all in on firing Marrone and Caldwell and starting fresh this season. LF had a great rookie season but he still got suspended for stupid shite like being late for team meeting and other reasons throughout his career. Look i love that LF played at LSU but as a professional you have to treat it like a business that means don't be late constantly, don't get in fights running across the field, etc. This year I want him to want it. His 3 td's last season doesn't show us or other teams anything. Prove you are one of the best and get paid like McCaffrey in Carolina.

I can't comment on his work ethic. All I did was watch the games. And I thought Fournette was as talented as any RB to wear P&G.
I don't follow the NFL, but hope he has great success. Want the best for my Tigers.
TBH, and not sure how to say this, but when I think about LF7, it reminds me of the horrible offense Les ran and that dark 3 lost stretch vs Bama, Arky, and OM in '15.
Les had this amazing RB talent and yet our games eventually became what was tantamount to 11-on-1. I liked Les, but this is where he really started losing me.

he’s one of only seven NFL backs to amass more than 2,500 yards rushing and more than 100 catches the past three seasons combined. That must be worth something.
This is a glaringly weak attempt to downplay what he's done. He was thrust into an offense with one of the worst lines in the league and expected to run for 5+ yards a pop and be a dynamite receiver out the backfield, which is hilarious considering their lack of a passing game when he got to the league. The thing is, those stats he listed aren't anything to scoff at, particularly with the way he's had to get it done.
People want so badly to label him a bust because he hasn't been the most productive back in the league on an objectively inefficient offense within a franchise that is riddled with management issues.
As far as the assessment, it's just wrong. He's on the trade block because he's not a good fit in Jacksonville. They don't think he's worth the money, and I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't just picking up a check with what he's had to deal with in terms of help. I think it's time for them to both move on. If he ends up on a team with either an effective passing game, a good O-line, or a combination of either of those things, he will thrive.

Nobody is biting on Yannick Ngakwue either, because nobody wants to give Jacksonville what they think they deserve for either one of them. Fournette is a solid NFL running back. The problem is he plays a position that nobody wants to pay top dollar for.

How does this assessment of Fournette strike you?I always thought Fournette played hard, but always felt like he didn't take coaching very well. As you step up in levels this becomes a much bigger detriment to your play. He has the pass catching skills to fit in to any offense. He was so much better than anyone else, he could pretty much do whatever he wanted and still be a star. This has led to inconsistent performances as a pro.
TigerDM, this is one of , if not the most knowledge ,posts I've read in a long time . I think you nailed it.
