You have to be his dad or kin to him.

It’s really simple. He got drafted and Paul told him to take the money.

This can mean only one thing. Paul didn’t expect him to play much next year. He knows his roster(both current and incoming) better than us. Apparently Paul either thinks someone currently on the roster or someone incoming is gonna take Slaughter’s PT. Who? I couldn’t tell you...

If Slaughter is riding the pine next year, his draft stock will plummet. It’s probably best for him anyway. Let him be a full time ballplayer and see what his true ceiling is

(I still can’t figure out why Slaughter didn’t cover 3rd on a force play????)

Brother, I’m not trying to be a jerk, but although Jacoby Jones’ potential never fully materialized at LSU,......he’s an actual 5 tool prospect.

That’s why he was drafted so high

Yeah Jones may be the most naturally talented player Mainieri has coached here

He’s up there, I agree but not sure he’s at the top. Definitely the least productive most talented player I’ve ever seen at lsu.

Jacoby was so raw coming out of high school. He also suffered from playing in the wiffle bat era.

He was still raw leaving LSU.

His face was pretty raw after Katz' fist gave him a sweet black eye.

If he could have guaranteed Slaughter a starting role next year, he probably would have advised him to stay.

I was more talking about the pitchers - I'm pretty sure Bush and Sanders could have been guaranteed meaningful innings.

I personally wish he would stay. Play him at first base. Powerful kid with the fastest bat speed on the team. He would bring a lot of upperclassmen mojo to the team, could wind up being a Deichman type player for us...guess we'll never know.

He could easily have been drafted much higher next season if he returned and improved his batting average by 50 points to over .300 with the same walk rate and ISO power.

50 points, ya say

With the same amount of at bats, that would have been 8 more hits on the season. You don't think he could improve to get one additional hit pretty much every other week?

With Lazarre, he could be the exact same hitter and somehow end up with 8 more hits.

He’s going to leave and get to be around a real hitting coach in the minors. Can’t blame him. Gonna be one that got away when he’s producing on the major league level.

Guys in here think minor league assistant coaches are the best in the world. A lot of these pros hire their own hitting or pitching coach to work with them on their own time. A minor league assistant makes about 40k a year.

He had the lowest fielding percentage of all infielders this year at .919.

Good luck to him. I hope he does great in the minors.
