The rivalries of the SEC is what made the league so dominant to begin with. Beyond the intangible things like road trips and revenge games, playing the same teams in such a competitive league provided benchmarks. It’s just a lot easier to know how good any one team is, and who you are, when you keep the same competition.
With playoff expansion, how good you are relative to your league becomes less relevant as it begins to only matter how good you are relative to your schedule. Eventually there will be no conference championship and league identity will matter less and less. Sad to watch. NIL almost softens this as it is compounding the trend, so maybe it came at an ok time.
On the intangible side, from a fan perspective it’s just boring. We will probably play Clemson more often than UGA in the next 10 years.

As long as John Bond doesn't reappear, I agree. Plus Starkvegas is a nice trip.

I'm going to feel this way when Florida falls off the schedule. A true coin toss game this century.

There is no more SEC West.
Auburn is already playing Bama, UGA, A&M. They don’t need another tough opponent.
Maybe swap LSU for A&M though.
Miss State has a very tough schedule too.

When does next years SEC schedule come out?

Even Hallman went 4-0 against them. Make it happen VERGE. Get them on the schedule as an OOC.

The rich tradition of us vs State. The cowbells, Sherrill, the OT game in 2000 for west supremecy, the phantom td in ‘99, Dak, Kennison’s 102 yard punt return for a TD. Playing day games in Starkville in the 80’s b/c they didn’t have lights in Davis Wade.

Hallman did not go 4-0 vs State. He lost 28-19 in 1991, his first season -- that was the day following an epic fight which broke out in Broussard Hall between angry players -- if I remember correctly Sammy Seamster was at the center of the player rift.

I want to play MSU and Vandy every year.

I like playing State and respect their fans and program.
I wish they had more resources to support their program.
I MUCH prefer to play the Bulldogs to playing against Fl. whose fans (and local cops) are insufferable.

Agree that Miss State and Auburn were good opponents for LSU. I will NOT miss the Miss State fans' cowbells which are still unbelievably allowed. But since I don't watch Miss State games now, I don't have to listen to that CRAPPY NOISE which has NOTHING to do with the game of football! At least fight songs, Tomahawk chop, etc have something to do with the associated teams.

For us. Not for them. We got Vandy in their place so it evens out.

I hate the new conference. It’s like the southwest conference West.

1965. Tulane's 0-62 loss in Tiger Stadium kilt two birds with one stone: Tommy O'Boyle's coaching career and Tulane's SEC tenure.
