So you are saying Kirby should be available after today to assist his father after his hip replacement surgery?

Is this that radical of a statement?

No, I was just curious.

Yeah, I'd say Van Buren is the #2

But that's just a guess, because you don't actually know. Until I see Swann commit or sign with another program, I'm gonna believe there's a chance he comes back. None of this matters anyway, we'll find out in about 3-4 months.

I'm sure the 49ers didn't expect to draft Trey Lance 3rd overall to have the last pick take his job

Apples to oranges. Lance played college ball at a lower level and didn’t start many games at that level due to the pandemic cancelling his last year there. He was always going to be boom or bust. Van Buren has proven he can play at this level whereas Hurley has not. You have to take the sure thing as it’s apparent that BK is all in next year.

i don't believe that. Van Buren is more than capable. I don't want him to start over Nuss, but if we lost Nuss for a game or two, i don't expect some major drop off. What he lacks in throwing experience, he makes up for being a better running threat. Sacks made him look far worse than he is running the ball. His ability to pass along with creating mismatches in the run game, makes him a positive if he has to play.

Not true. Van Buren has quality sec starts against good sec teams. Played pretty good . That's great experience.

A guy that started 7 SEC games vs. a 17 year old (to be ) RS Fr who has never taken a meaningful college snap? Yeah, I'd say Van Buren is the #2

I'd say Van Buren would be #2 if they played a game tomorrow. But I don't think he's automatically #2 after fall practice.

My question is Van Buren the long term answer at QB or is he just an insurance policy for nuss next year. I think he's a great option if nuss goes down but Is he the next elite QB at LSU 2 years from now?
No, they will definitely have a competition in 2026.

LSU was extremely lucky getting Daniels and Burrow like they did when they did. You can find in my posts that i was extremely excited for both guys before they transfered here because i could see the elite talent. LSU got Burrow through a connection and because the two teams he wanted to go to most said no. LSU got Daniels, obviously because they were looking for a starter with experience, but also because his last season made him not highly valuable at all on an open market. Daniels was a guy looking to compete and have a chance at the NFL draft. He wasn't looking for a major payout. If he cost big money, LSU would have never been able to get him, nor keep him after his first year (3800 total yards 29 TDs to 6 turnovers with 10 wins and a SEC West title).

Those guys will pay off from years to come as long as we don't have somebody offering a guy 12 mill

Van Buren’s the #2 until he isn’t.
