so ya'll don't see Texas or the likes trying to pull him away if this were to happen?

Texas is probably the only school that LSU can't compete with in terms of salary for a baseball coach. Texas has enough money to outbid any school.

Mainieri went to LSU one year before transferring. His wife went to LSU. This is Mainieri's home now and he'll more than likely coach here till he retires.

Or until the rant runs him out of town for not winning the CWS every year.

I'd say Texas is to college baseball what Texas is to college football, but I'm biased.

Always second best, never number 1...just like your 2 finger longhorn signal always reminds you of.

I'm just picking on you.. finishing 2nd in two ncaa sports isn't something to complain too much about.

Was that in recognition of Augie's drinking problem?

Lou Piniella is in his final year with the Cubs. Mainieri is a lock.

Hmm, that didn't work. I don't know how to transliterate the phrase.

I'm surprised a Tiger/Russian would think drinking a problem.

Paul maineri knows that lsu is the best baseball program in America.... He loves the atmosphere here and I personally think he would stay for a while... But now days nobody can really predict what a coach is going to do

I think he goes. Tons of schools out there with better facilities, better attendance, and more money. It was just a matter of time, we were lucky to have him this long.

Is this really bad sarcasm?

Unless they could offer him 3 times what LSU would pay him, it wouldn't be a smart move.

Trust me, if Texass wants to go after someone, $$$ won't be an issue--they have plenty.

WHY would he leave?
WHERE would he go?
And WHO has the money to pull a succesful baseball coach away from LSU. (Texas has money but if you think that LSU couldn't match Texas in a bidding war-especially if Coach PM wins his 2nd NC in as many years-then you are silly. If Coach PM wins his second NC this year, NOBODY could breach the wall LSU will put up around him-NOBODY! Not to mention, the guy LOVES LSU & doesn't want to go anywhere.

I hope so too...its in the top 3 baseball jobs in the country... and I dont know if anyone can match facilities, recruiting base, money, and certainly not attendance...

LSU can not match Texas in a bidding war. That is a fact.

But why in the world would PM want to leave ?

I find it very hard to believe that LSU couldn't/wouldn't find the money to keep Coach PM if he wins back to back national championships.

Yes it is.

Unless he pulls another $aban and has some MLB itch he needs to scratch, don't see him leaving for another college job, unless Texass opens their vault for him.

They could open their wine cellar, but it's likely sparse.
