When you saw the players on the field, who looked like they were playing to keep their SEC championship hopes alive, and which team was trying to become bowl eligible?

Napier also didn't have the quality of players Kelly inherited.

I think the more baffling things to fans is the total beat downs the team has undergone these last couple of weeks. It has been humiliating.
Teams that were beatable at that.
Unprepared, seemingly apathetic (see Whit Weeks talking about the last touchdown by Florida) and regressing from game one until now.

Even their conditioning is suspect

Fandom impacted everyone form the coaches, to the players, to media, to the fans.

They all think they are entitled to have the attitude of Antonio Brown but they are really practice sec level squad players and sunbelt starters.

Here's what I'm seeing, and what we need to address going forward (not this year):

Kelly seems to use the portal grudgingly, prefers to bring in recruits and build that way. It takes more time, but you have a higher ceiling- elite players aren't usually in the portal, unless they started at a lower tier.
He used the portal for bandaids in 2022, did the same in 2023 for the defense (didn't work as well).
I would think we should start seeing the high school kids soon, as they are now a class or 2 in.
Just noting, we don't see Bama or UGA hitting the portal for many guys.

He doesn't seem to care much about the opener. It seems almost like a scrimmage to him, get the guys ready for conference play. I don't think we've done actual prep for opening opponents, we just work on our stuff.
That doesn't work well when we seem to open with a P4 team every year . You can say USC is down, that's fine- it's not the same as playing a true cupcake. We have Clemson starting next year, so it's going to continue.

We desperately need to see talent come back up in positions we used to take for granted. Linebackers and secondary, we used to be loaded there. You could bring in a backup corner and he'd stick like glue on most teams' WR1. That ain't the case anymore, and we don't have safeties or linebackers either. Weeks is ok for what he does, but he ain't catching anyone outside the tackles. The safeties erase zero mistakes, and don't stuff the run either.

On offense we need more linemen. I don't know that Campbell and Jones are really that good, I think it's just that we didn't have anyone better when they were freshmen and they just stuck. The interior guys suck outright. Maybe another year will help the young guys.

We also desperately need a punter. 35 yds isn't going to cut it, and that's what this guy has.

We need more WRs. Daniels, Jones and Anderson are ok. Lacy is not a 1 and has an attitude, and Hilton just can't catch.
Durham is a good back, I think we're ok there.

1) Sage ( rabbit got the gun) Ryan and Major burns have been starters for 3 of the worst LSU defenses.

2022 was the 41st ranked total defense. It really doesn't belong with he last two seasons.
