I agree 100%
Also we need a hitting coach. WHY is Raph the only one that can hit consistantly?????
Coach should be on hot seat if we don't host a regional, and gone if we miss going all together.

LSU averaged a hit per inning in games 2 and 3 against some pretty stout Ark starting pitchers and a bullpen that Kyle Peterson tells us is one of the best in the country.
I'd say at least for one weekend LSU's hitting nightmares took a break. They were more than adequate. Small ball execution still not great. And I still think in general Javy looks like a goob, but can't complain about this past weekend.

I will support him unless we miss the regionals again this year. If that happens, he needs to go. No excuse for having that happen with what we have in pitching.

Last weekend I saw an overall determination and effort I'd not seen in a long time. It reminded me of the good ol' LSU baseball we love. That must continue, and it starts at the top.

We're looking good so far this season.. but our roster for next season looks pretty weak. He'll need to pull the recruiting strings big time.

I'm hoping the Arkansas series has the reverse effect that the Florida series had on us last year. We lost a couple of close games and ended up getting swept and after that, we didn't look like the same team. Maybe this is the confidence booster we needed to turn this season around. I guess we'll find out this weekend.

Anyone who has made any judgement based on this season has been premature.
But Mainieri has done nothing to merit being fired, IMO. Missing the postseason once with a top 25 RPI finish isn't enough to merit it, unless followed up by another one or two poor seasons.

I don't know about any PM train but I think the Manieri haters should shut the frick up and say the serenity prayer until the end of the season.
LSU baseball should be enjoyed while it's going on, not detested.
Again, this is the Tiger "Rant" so I can't be too critical.
JMHO.

The level of buzz created from us sweeping ONE GOOD TEAM speaks volumes about the state of the program with PM at the helm.

this season is huge.
if we go three straight years with no regional at the Box, no question PM deserves the heat.
LSU should be hosting a regional EVERY SINGLE YEAR. No reason that we should ever not be one of the Top16 teams in the country. LSU has too much fan support, tradition, money, facilities, in a sport where there's only about 10-20 other schools that really put an effort financially into building a baseball program.

Well, the flip side of that coin is that, despite the struggles the last two seasons, there indeed is "buzz" about the program.
That's definitely something that's good for PM as opposed to TJ's future. It's fine and dandy as long as there's still buzz. But once apathy sets in, then you've hit rock bottom.

Anyone saying CPM is not deserved of some criticism is just silly....he is/was 500 in SEC series dating back 2 yrs. He was not totally immune from being on some sort of hot seat
But I will as always , even after this wkend wait until end of season

eh, when you sweep the #3 team in the country, twice on walk off hits, it's going to be exciting no matter what. In 2009 when we beat UGA 2/3 in Athens (they were 6th in the country, we were 2nd) I remember going nuts. Same as when we beat Arkansas that year in Fayetteville 2/3 after dropping the first game. When you beat a team as good as Arkansas is, especially by way of a sweep, it isn't a knock on the state of the program that the fan base is excited. Did you not go nuts when #1 LSU beat #9 Florida in football in 2007?
We're tied for first in the division, are a top 10 (or close to it) team with an upcoming series against the #1 team in the country, a series in which we can potentially take the lead in the conference with a series win. When exactly is it acceptable to have "buzz created."

I'm glad you agreed with me re: baserunning. I'm pretty bummed about you having to create a straw-man argument in an attempt to disagree.
Let me rephrase what I said in light of your comments by way of a response to you:
I am not concerned by what Arkansas's hitters do against LSU's pitchers when I talk about how LSU's hitting is doing against Arkansas's pitching. In any way, shape or form.
Arkansas' results when they are at bat have absolutely ZERO to do with LSU's results when they are at bat. Using their statistics in order to validate LSU's offensive production is patently useless in terms of furthering whatever point it is that you're driving at.
EDIT: My apologies, as I left one aspect of your response out. For the record, at no point in time did I mention home-runs specifically, although in general I referred to how gratifying it was to watch our bats come alive Friday Night. Which would include an inference to not only our home runs but all of our results at the plate.
Thanks for taking the time to read.
My apologies if my rebuttal to your post wasn't to your liking. I made assumptions based on your vague "weak" argument.
How about this? LSU averaged 12 hits a game for the weekend. What makes that "weak" as you say they still are? That's where my assumption that you were discussing homeruns, as that is considered power. I brought in Arkansas' numbers on the weekend as a comparison. LSU's numbers were not "weak" when compared to their opponents. You did not give a frame of reference, so I created my own.

I never got off of it. I still don't like his hitting coach. He should tweak his staff.
