Ed Orgeron is a subpar coach and an overrated recruiter

Its bad when they attack the players that are coming in to try and win, which is what we all should want.

It’s a very good staff. Believe it or not any staff that has EdO on it is legit!

in what? that's a lot of stock to put in hundredths of points on a recruiting website that evaluates thousands of players every year. I'm sure their margin of error is pristine.

Besides Mickey Joseph & the grandpa D-Line coach...it's actually a pretty good recruiting staff. There are plenty of things that suck with LSU football right now, but the recruiting staff is the last thing I'm worried about.
Also, I'm not going to judge the current class just yet. The star average isn't as high as we've had recently, but that doesn't mean it won't work out. We filled our needs pretty good, & it's kind of unfair to pass judgement until we see the players in action.
Miles actually had a pretty shitty recruiting staff a few years back. Don't recall the exact year, but Frank Wilson pretty much saved us that year. We brought in some new guys the next year.

Yeah we should go back to the Les model of recruiting, 18 5 star wide outs 16 of whom would never take a snap at LSU and 3 kickers.
this is such an ignorant bullshite rant myth.
you do realize we were dline u before we were dbu right?

Or would you rather us sign 25 DBs and WRs to make our class ranked higher but not fill any of our needs?
We signed like 7 linebackers in 2012 to "fill our needs" and it was the worst class Miles ever produced.

If guys sign that are expected to sign, we finish with another top 10 class and fill all our needs on the DL and OL.
Doubtful. Look at the teams above and below us. They all have more space to add players than we do.

90’s recruiting actually wasn’t bad at all. It was the fricking coaching that was horrendous.

What elite recruits did O pull in when he was D line coach? Glen Logan?

once Dinardo got to LSU it was pretty good. Prior to Dinardo it was atrocious

He was D Line coach here all of 1 full season before being the interim HC

The recruiting derby is smoke and mirrors. Based on what CLM did with his big time classes in the past, unless they are utilized appropriately and coached to the next level (SEC), raw recruiting class ratings are pretty much just so much window dressing. Results, not wasted potential, matters.

Rashard Lawrence, Tyler Shelvin, & Glen Logan in 2016.
Right after he was hired in 2015...he closed on this guy.

I hope, for your sake, that you don't actually believe this.
I am not a doubter of the star system, especially on the high end players that anyone can see are stars. But I have no confidence that any recruiting web site can make a significant distinction between the No. 125 player and the No. 75 player. Or the No. 150 player and the No. 250 player. The differences are too small and they don't get enough exposure to them.
There are also serious ranking conflicts with high end schools (including LSU) that exist, but that's a whole other thread.

Actually only Clemson and USC still have a bunch of open spots. If we get our remaining targets, we will almost definitely be in the top 10.
