Buddy Hield....... We were so close to winning that game, but he had an amazing second half.
That game was so much fun. I was in the second row in the student section. We had a nice lead at halftime, and then Buddy just decided he wasn't going to lose, and that's all there was to it. Later that night (about 1:30 AM) I ran into Ben Simmons and Darcy Malone at CVS on highland. Tried saying hello, Ben just kind of scoffed at me and walked away. Darcy at least smiled and said hi back.

Ben didn’t shoot for the last like 5 minutes. What a dude.

Biggest home SEC regular season game I can remember in very recent years sans maybe a UK game, take control atop the SEC tonight for either team
Tennessee 2019 AKA "The Javonte Smart Game"

I remember being at that game.Buddy just couldn’t Miss from 3. So many LSU b-ball losses in recent years have followed that template.

I think that would be the Sweet 16 game 2 years ago.
I actually think the games against Tennessee and Kentucky that season were more hyped and had bigger implications.

Biggest home game in WW Era was Tennessee in 2019.

It was a three team race for the SEC when Tennessee came to town. They were leading LSU and Kentucky by a game in the standings. LSU had just blown a home game vs. Florida (in OT) because they could not stop Florida from making threes late and in OT. Essentially, LSU, with 2 losses to date, HAD to beat Tennessee (who had only 1 SEC loss at the time) to have any shot at the SEC Title. The couldn't let UT have a de facto 2.5 game lead in the standings with only 4-5 games left in the season.
Win or lose, there is still a LOT of season to play after tonight. That UT game was the biggest reg season game of the Wade era...and maybe his finest game at LSU...considering they were able to beat a really good Tennessee team despite LSU not having their best player, Waters.

Not really any more important than the next one or the one after that. They are all important now. If they lose, it isn’t the end of the world.

In terms of Conference matchups the game that same year at home vs. Tennessee that essentially decided the SEC regular season title was bigger, but yeah this one is pretty big for this time of year.

Yeah that Tennessee game is probably the biggest one going back.
That Oklahoma game really soured me on Simmons. I kept waiting for him to take matters into his hands down the stretch but he kept deferring. He didn't attempt a shot in the final 4:46.

I'm kinda surprised that most of the people here are downplaying the overall importance of the game tonight when it actually is more than just another SEC wednesday game. So I'll make it clear for anyone that bothers with actually understanding the stakes at the point....
First off, you lose this game and Bama has a 2 game lead in the loss column and then you are looking at a stretch of the schedule that could literally end your season in a hurry if you let it...Lose to bama and then you'll walk into Rupp with all the pressure to win on you against a UK team that has a bunch of five star 18 years old children that could absolutely put one game together and just use the pure talent they have and if you let that game slip away then you are now three games back with a game vs. Texas A&M at home needing to win because you have to face two ranked teams in a row after that...Texas Tech who is the 12th ranked team overall and then the second game against Bama that would most likely still be in the top of the SEC and playing to get the best seed possible and at the same time LSU at the worst possible case could be coming in 1-3 in their last 4 games and would be in a spot where if they didn't win the rematch then it's over for them as an at large team. No more real chances for any real good wins on the schedule that would remain.
I realize that this is just one game being played and I'm playing worst case scenario here...But look you lose this game and watch how the whole season you have in mind could end up falling apart quickly if you aren't careful
