Curious if anyone here is plugged into the football program enough to know if there's a major difference in off-season preparation.

I was not impressed with Flint.

As far as names go, having an S&C coach named Savage is a massive upgrade over someone named after a rock that must be struck to be useful.

I’d assume there are very few differences between Flint’s, Savage’s, or even Moffitt’s program at A&M.

Moffitt was SC Coach of the year in 2019, then all of a sudden the “game had passed him by” in 2021.

Then A&M pushed our shite in this year after 2 years with Moffitt. Maybe it’s more on the head coach

You can pick up on some small differences based on the video clips the program shares, but for the most part, all these guys are doing the same stuff and have the same goals.

Accountability within your S&C program is key, and that starts with the head coach building culture.

LSU wasn't losing games because of Jake Flint.

I think if you could pin it on 1 assistant coach it was Brad Davis.

There was an anonymous report from someone in the building who had been there since miles. He basically said they almost never practiced short yardage scenarios, whereas miles would overdo it and practice short yardage for 2 hours straight.

Then during the western kentucky game the announcers said (laughingly) the Oline just started practicing with sleds that week. (which was post BK firing)

He hasn’t. Still living in BR during this transition phase, hoping to land a gig in the NFL.

That was just the typical rant response regurgitating the same nonsense.

Moffitt is one of the best S&C coaches to ever do it in college football. S&C doesn’t just “pass you by”. There is a reason he was part of 3 different national championship teams.

Flint did a great job. You guys were all on the "Flint" bandwagon. I remember majority you talking shite about how outdated Tommy's program was and how we were getting manhandled by other opponents. If this guy pisses the bed, you will be talking about him too. You guys have no shame!

My kids go to school with Coach Flint’s kids and I’ve been around the entire family a lot. They’re very good humans and wherever they end up will be getting great people added to their community.

That has nothing to do with his ability as a coach making a ton of money a year. His results were substandard. Who cares if he’s a nice guy?

I have no doubt.

I just think he was in over his head in the SEC at this stage of his career.

How were his results sub-standard if A) soft tissue injuries were very very minimal B)LSU just had 3 of the fastest 40s for WRs plus one do the shuttle run better than everyone and C) his team loved and revered him due to his ability to get the most out of them plus be a great human. It is not Coach Flint's fault our OC sucked, our OL coach sucked, our RB coach is past his prime, and Nuss suffered an abdominal strain that he never let heal for long enough...

One of the local talking heads stated that they were a big proponent of using bands and not pushing a ton of weight.

I can’t remember which one said it b/c I listen to the podcast while I run.

That may or may not be the issue with the lines getting pushed around. The other side of that is that it may or may not have helped cut down on soft tissue injuries.

I have a hard time believing S&C coaches matter less when everyone is moving schools constantly.
