If you don’t think CJJ is paying attention to 1000x the variables as everyone on here combined then you are clinically retarded (not directing this at you, OP). The dude has literally said he gets certain freshmen playing time to set them up for the following season. Most people here can’t see past their nose and he’s fortune telling at a relatively consistent rate
CJJ is the methodical, deliberate, tactical coach that everyone wishes their coach was like.

Moore’s pitchability in comparison to LSU pitchers reminds me of Luke Holman. If we get that out of our Saturday starter, sign me up.

I agree with, which also tells us that the 56 game playoff thing is kind of a farce if he is setting things up for down the road. He is obviously trying to win every game but not in the 56 game playoff model
He needs his players to be in the mindset that it’s a 50 game playoff. Hes extremely into mindset and sports psychology.
He knows that his players need to have specific things in their mind to succeed and he can look at the big picture.
In other words, it’s a playoff for our players and it’s one big science experiment for him.

Just for shits and giggles I looked up Skenes, thinking his game 2 and 3 starts would be in line with these two guys....... nahhh
6.0 IP, 2 Hits allowed, 1 ER, 2 BB, 11 K
6.0 IP, 1 Hit allowed, 0 ER, 0 BB, 13 K
Skenes is 1 of 1.

Guys get ramped up at a different pace. It’s a little concerning Evans struggled as a starter last year as well, so hard to say if he can figure out how to be equally effective going 2-3 times through the order, but he’s certainly got the talent. Last year, Eyanson looked really bad against the early competition, then outperformed Anderson in the second half of the season. Way too early to give up on anyone.

And Moore’s, much like Cowen’s, change up is by far his best pitch and he lives on being able to throw that wherever he wants in whatever count he wants. But he has to be able to locate his fastball in and out too. If goes out there one day and doesn’t have command of just 1 of those and they can sit on the other, SEC lineups are going to touch him up. And how effective will he be the 2nd or 3rd time through lineups?
Yes, in theory you are right you can get away with more balls over the heart of the plate when the velocity is higher. However, Moore has 4 pitches that he has always commanded. Hes always been a strike thrower and will always have times where teams "get a hold of one" but hes not someone to worry about "getting touched up" by SEC pitching. His floor is higher than the others while his ceiling is lower. But his lack of velocity is nothing to be concerned about because of his pitch ability, command, and movement.

LSU baseball is in excellent hands with this coaching staff.

it’s nuts but we went through the CWS last year with 5 guys throwing 43/45 innings.
Anderson, Eyanson, Shores, Evans and Cowan.
we got a combined 2.0 from Noor, Williams and Mayers. Insane.
in 23 we threw 13, but only 7 threw over 2 innings. a few were just cannon fodder in that game 2 of the finals we just needed to get through
How about some context:
2023, LSU played in 8 games in 10 days, 2 of which lasted 11 innings. 75 innings if my count is right (72 innings in 8 games plus 4 for the 2 11-inning games [76] and subtract 1 inning [75] because LSU did not pitch in the 9th in one of the two losses). So LSU used 13 pitchers to throw in 75 innings over 10 days.
2025 played in 5 games in 9 days, 45 innings. LSU used 9 pitchers to throw those innings.
So the difference is they used 4 additional pitchers to throw an additional 20 innings in 2023.

I can guarantee you that this is just a very small sample of CJJ’s insight into this pitching staff

I liked what the three starters did this weekend, but I didn't have that kind of confidence tonight. Cooper Williams just doesn't impress me.
