Yes they were cross ups. However I have seen too many cross ups with McManus. Cross ups are on the catcher plain and simple.

Well it’s definitely not that plain and simple. We never know what happens when the pitcher throws a different pitch than the catcher is expecting. . Especially with a guy on second the pitcher could easily read the wrong signal.

Similar to a WR running the wrong route or a QB throwing to the wrong spot. We don’t know which one was actually wrong without knowing the play.

It definitely seemed to happen to mcmanus alot. Whether their method of communicating pitches, or something is off. They need to straighten that out. It shouldnt happen every game

Doughty is an interesting one his stock has dropped and with his shoulder being a constant issue it may impact his draft and he could potentially come back next season as well.

Doughy is 100% gone

The point is. I’ve seen these cross ups all year. The catcher in general has to manage this better. I’ve seen more by this catcher than other catchers in a while at Lsu. Cross ups do happen from time to time. Given. But not this consistently. It seemed like at least once a game their was a cross up. This, in my opinion is equivalent to the fielding errors within the infield (for a catcher) It’s the catchers responsibility to get things straight.

there were clues on other pitches that the catcher should have picked up on that should have sparked a mound visit at least.

When you see a receiver run the wrong route or Vice verse. You usually see a good quarterback address it immediately

I think people are lost in the fact that if it were not for McManus at the plate in conference play, our season looks much different that it does today. McManus was somewhat of a liability behind the plate, but his hitting absolutely won us numerous different ball games.

Our pitchers next year will be filthy if the draft doesn’t rape us

why don’t we recruit and develop some arms like USM that aren’t draft threats? Seemed to work out pretty well for them and we wouldn’t be fricked after losing our best arm prospects to the draft

Doughty to me is the question mark. He was projected as a first rounder in some BA drafts earlier in the year, but not lately. I could see him drafted in round 5-7 and it become an issue of whether he gets over slot

McManus progressed on the year. At the end of the year, he was a productive hitter and his defense was just fine.

His defense was awful. He tried to catch that one pitch AFTER it hit the umpire.

You realize that most of those passed balls were because him and the pitcher weren’t on the same page, right? I’m not sure who’s fault each was, but there aren’t many catchers on this planet that are quick enough to catch a 95 mph fastball high and inside when you are expecting and set up low and away for a breaking ball.

Every top college baseball team loses players to the draft. You still have to try and get those guys that you think may come to school.

Should CPM have not recruited Dylan Crews because he might be a first round pick?

Bc when they don't pan out, you'd probably ask why we don't recruit true aces out of high school.
