He would be turning 24 in a month after the 2027 draft, if you're stating that he could return for his Sr. year, get drafted next year and not sign, and then go back into the draft in 2027. The is not a realistic scenario.

Agree, he will leave. The point of my post is he is not ready.

If only professional baseball had a multi-level development league with the sole purpose of getting players ready for MLB baseball

I'm not sure how this fact keeps getting lost, but it does. Over and Over.

The amount of ignorance regarding prospects, the draft, and pro ball in general on this board is staggering.

And it's every year. It's like people aren't even interested in actually learning or knowing if what they're saying has any validity. It's just the same shite every year.

If he can make more money coming out this year than next you do it.
But it would be fun if he stayed no doubt.

He doesn’t need to come back. He will be fine when he realizes he’ll keep his power when he hits for contact. The minors will teach him.

The window is too tight for him to stay in school. In pro ball you are young at 21 and old af at 24. Can’t wait

People who think Jones can't make the majors don't know that Luken Baker exists.

I agree, and that’s the point I was trying to make. that he doesn’t have leverage if he returns for his senior season. I was responding to a poster saying this

quote:

That's not how the MLB draft works. With no leverage he can't negotiate anything

Yup, and people in here are overestimating how much a R-R 1B only college bat would get in the draft. And the trend is only getting worse. You pretty much need to have an elite, best-in-class hitting tool to get good money as a R-R 1B, think Spencer Torkelson and Andrew Vaughn and i think teams are moving away from that because all the value is tied to the bat.

Last year two 1B were taken before the 6th round and both were lefties and both had much more advanced bats. The first R-R 1B came off the board in the 14th.

When the first R-R 1B was drafted
24: 14th round
23: 6rd round
22: 2nd round (Ivan Melendez went bananas) and that turned out poorly so not helpful and the other 2nd rounder also played 3rd
21: 4th round

Coming back to play for LSU with a decent NIL package and break the all time home run record will be better for his life long legacy than minor league ball for a few years

This is probably true, considering the long shot of making it to the big leagues.

LSU all time home run leader > minor league career with hope of a cup of coffee in the big leagues.

Its like comparing Eddy Furniss vs Kramer Robertson's careers. A couple hundred thousand $ more isnt going to be life changing for him in the big picture.

But if you are Jones, who has worked his whole life for a shot at the Big leagues, you probably have to take the chance and bet on yourself to make it to have a solid pro career sooner than later.

Don't know because he's an elite defender at 1st with big time power. If he can get the right hitting coach and average .250....

Jones isn’t making MLB regardless of if he gets coached by LSUs hitting coach next year or MiLB coaching. He certainly needs to go now & make the most signing bonus he can before moving on to other ventures.

You guys don’t watch the MLB I guess. Half the league either hits a homerun or strikes out and as a batting average of .180

I'm shocked there are actual LSU fans that don't think Jones could get a call up one day down the road. He has all the tools to be in the bigs. He just needs to get that K rate lowered and keep hitting the ball the other way or up the middle like he did the last four games in Omaha.
