One theme they seem to be conscious of trying to impress upon fans and media is this new screaming intentsity.

They are sneaking out these bull-in-the-ring drills that I remember doing in youth league football with all the screaming and yelling and grunting that goes with it.

The message is that this is the elixer and answer to the toughness we've been missing.

I hope that's the case but all I can think of is it reminds me of Dinardo's last Spring when he brought in that screamer Cullen and they'd run yeling and screaming and hollering all over the place.

I don't quite agree with you. An example as to why is that you can see the team really get behind this and get excited before practice. In HS, our Oklahoma drill was during positional drills rather than a team-wide event. Furthermore, watch Billy G. with the receivers after the drill coaching them up, the other coaches are probably doing the same (one would hope).

So again, I don't think you are correct in your assumption in that it is merely a festival of yelling.

I have a want to be wrong on this Sam.

Gonzales will bring some leadership and organization that is sorely needed. But eventually that has to come from the top, only so much can be delegated.

Geaux Tigers!!

Very true, and I hope it does. By all accounts (dandy don, hearsay on this board and player comments) miles is a good leader/motivator, it's just the organization part that seems lacking, and that can be fixed by hiring the right people, just as in any business.

In any case,

Running slants and screens getting the ball to skilled playmakers is all well and good assuming that we have a QB that can deliver these routes. That does not appear to be a particular forte of our starting QB to date. We abandoned the middle of the field last year (sorry Dickson), so it will be interesting to see if we rediscover the area between the hash marks this year.

I've heard those and I've also heard just the opposite from hearsay on this board from player comments off the record and big boosters who attend practices, etc. that were once Les loyalists but are no longer.

I'm kinda in the middle. I don't think he's a great leader but I don't think he's a bad leader. I think he's average in that regard.

I think one thing most all of us agree on is that organization and attention to detail are not his forte.

You know how they say admitting the problem is the first step to recovery. I've heard bringing in Gonzales was to fix this and thus a tacid admission by Les of his problem.

But one can wonder if that's treating the sypmtoms and not the disease.

Again, eventually that has to come from the top.

I try to look at him like a Donald Trump type, although he is not quiote to that caliber, as long as he hires the right people and keeps them motivated, he can just delegate.

The motivation is there (big name program, history, recent rash of championships, etc.) and I'd like to believe that he still has the want to succeed, so I lean more to the he is a leader versus the middle.

It does have to come from the top, but not necessarily in all facets. Get the right teachers in place, motivate the caoches, the players and hopefully success follows.

all good leaders bring in subordinates who bring something to the party that may be missing. If I suck at time management, then I'm going to make sure my assistant excels at it. Where a leader errs/fails is in hiring staff that has the same basic qualities as himself.

I agree, but I think organization and attention to detail are things that do need to come from the top.

I would like to see them doing a slant type drill(tackling drill, guess they are trying to avoid injuries. Big Cat is basically just one guy pushing the other off the line. Have a ball carrier and a tackler and let them pop each other.
