quote:I got the impression it's not a money issue. The Coaches Committee provides plenty of money every year ($150,000-$200,000/year) for such off-the-budget extras. It's a policy issue for some reason and PM didn't want to go into it.
Won't someone just donate the radar equip?
(If I had to guess, I'd say it might be a Title 9 issue and the university would have to provide the same equipment to the softball team. But that is just MY speculation.)
I plan on writing to Joe Alleva to ask him what's the deal and to reconsider. If he gives me a response and a reason for the decision, I'll post it here.

Did he mention how Didier is doing after his surgery?

Also it was said that Skip was having some health problems dealing with hip complications, but is now doing better at home.

You can be there.....at the next meeting in October. Just join up!
Coach Mainieri really makes the meetings worthwhile and enjoyable. (Unlike a recent former head baseball coach who made it clear he didn't like having to attend Coaches Committee meetings.)

Man, I really like the flags in center but I guess you don't need those AND and Intimidator billboard. I'd rather just have the flags, but meh...

do you mind if I use this info in my next blog entry? Obviously I will credit you. I probably won't do it until next week, and hopefully I can get some other news to go with it, but I think it would be good to throw in there so people can find easily even after this thread is unstickied and falls by the way-side.

Then after the next batter got out, Grewe said, "One out to go to a national championship!"
HAHA great chemistry. Thanks, Ruski

Only questions I care about...
Who plays 3rd?
Who will be DH?
Who fills out the weekend rotation?
Will be answered in the fall.

how many people are at the meetings? Do you get to meet PM personally?
Posted on 9/22/09 at 11:41 pm to josh336
yes you get to meet Coach. He is very personable and will speak to everyone. He will answer questions, take pictures with you, sign autographs...
there are about 300-500 people that attend.
Tonight was a great crowd for being a rainy day in September.

I have an answer to as why LSU opted not to post the pitch m.p.h. on the scoreboard. I remember someone telling me the reason why Skip never wanted to put up the radar speed was because his pitchers would always look at it after every pitch and sometimes if there velocity was down they would try and overthrow. He was always worrying about his pitchers wearing out their arms trying to throw harder and maybe injuring themselves. Not saying i wouldn't mind on seeing it up there, just offering an explanation.

Thanks for the info. Makes me sad I'm not going to be here in the spring.

Also the players are there and are very involved with talking with fans. I was in the buffet line in front of three of the new players. I knew they were players but didn't know their names so I turned around, introduced myself and they introduced themselves.
I asked them what made them decide to sign with LSU. They all just laughed and said the usual things, "best place to play","want to play for championships", and one of them just looked around the room and said, "because of this".
One of the new players during the introductions to the audience said there were more people in the room than he ever played in front of with his JC team.

I “understand” the radar gun situation.
I’m anti the flags moving. Just buy new flags. Also, the “Gerry lane winner’s circle” sounds like it’s gonna be GREAT.
What about a “pitch count” number on the scoreboard?
