That Miami D is opportunistic. No need to tempt fate. The W was all that mattered and was well in hand.

Burrow's thoughts as well.

This reasoning is the worst.

My argument is that when we let our foot off, a team like Miami claws back, our gameplay then becomes dictated by trying to hold on for the W. Ebbing and flowing. Trying to run out the clock on O and playing it safe on D is not quality reps for young guys. They need to develop, not be in panic mode relying on raw talent to win games.

Was this just because of the new QB and question marks at other positions?

Maybe it was because we were up 30 on a team that thrives on turnovers in conjunction with the new qb and question marks??

It was smart

See this is how I know you're a petulant bitch. I didn't say anything about the playbook or scheming.

I just said keep scoring....doing the same things we were doing in the first half.....nothing fancy.

And I posted the quote as to why they went conservative that came directly from the QB. Yet here you are, still complaining.

I was mostly disappointed at how close we came to repeating the 40-3 score and missed the chance.

All these people saying we went vanilla not to give teams film of this "new offense" are ridiculous..end of the second half he should of worked on his two minute offense and should have worked on his full offense in the third quarter..once we got to the 4th quarter then you can worry about running down the clock..your offense doesn't get better by "hiding the playbook" for games weeks away you get better with reps and running the offense in game situations..you would think he would of learned a lesson watching miles get fired for holding the offense back and if he's not careful he will see the same fate and have no one to blame but himself..still a great win and loved seeing the energy of the football team last night

Again, we had a 30 point lead! WTF is wrong with you idiots? When you have a lead like that, you shorten the game.

Les wouldn't have had a 30 pt lead against #6 in the nation....ever

Only a dumbass would come here and bitch about having a 30 pt lead and winning by 2 tds.

Also, receivers had BIG drops. Safeties sucked, etc

It was a dominating performance

Ok....if u say so. I agree with a few posters that stated we didn't have to close up shop on offense though completely....which is what we did.

Do you see Bama, Clemson, Ohio State go vanilla in the 3rd quarter of a football game with a big lead?? Absolutely not and what do all those teams have in common? They have all made the playoffs several times

Eh, they were getting a lot of penetration and the only way we could have lost was by giving them multiple turnovers/short fields. I think it was the right call.

It’s not one or the other. You can run the offense without going into a shell. Don’t have to run high risk plays.

And you don’t have to shut the O down before halftime.

Why run the ball constantly when up 33-3 in the second half?

at you people
It’s like some of you have only watched four football games ever

No, because I see their receivers and db's catch balls in their hands. If our guys perform, there was nothing different in the second half

I just hated the predictably of the offense. Only so much u can do in 2TE sets. We could have run the ball a ton out of 3Wr shotgun sets and killed a bunch of clock and still been effective running the ball. Forcing a few defenders out of the box does wonders for the running game.
exactly. I've NEVER understood telegraphing an off tackle run.

Even if we're going to run off tackle, show a pass formation to spread out the defense, and THEN run off tackle. Or try using misdirection. Anything but showing an off tackle run, and then doing it. Keep it unpredictable!!

It was like watching Les' Bama gameplan last night in the second half.

and Oklahoma too, and they also had a new QB.

None of those teams stop playing - they keep the pedal down and try to keep moving the ball. And all of the, except Clemson, had new starting QBs, just like us.

It was like watching Les all over again.
