He's gonna dump Crowton and we will alll be happy! He's in over his head cause he spends the whole game correcting crowton and his woes.

So let me guess:

Miles loves taking a paycut?

Miles loves shitty facilities?

Maybe we can work out an agreement where we fire him and he goes to CU. He would still get the same salary, as we would have to pay him the difference of his current salary and what CU gives him. We could do this until 2012 or 2014 (whenever his contract expires).

This is silly. Can CU pay him anywhere close to LSU?

In total, yes.

I agree, I highly doubt this happens if LSU wins 10+games, but if LSU only wins 8 or 9 this Miles to Colorado talk could certainly heat up.

Colorado doesn't have to give him a $3.75 million per year deal like LSU (3.75 x 4 years left on contract = $15 million), they would just need to give him a contract that is worth over $15 million in total, like $2.5 million over 6 years.

Look at it from Miles financial perspective: I have four years left on my contract at LSU, and no matter what happens, they have to pay me $15 million, even if they fire me. Of course, if they fire me, I probably won't be able to get a decent college football job ever again so my earning potential after that $15 million is significantly hurt.

So if Colorado can step in and give him a 6-year contract at $2.5 per, he in the end winds up with the same amount of money or more than he would have gotten from LSU, and a fresh new start in a new town and new conference, and at a place with nowhere to go but up. Again, I go back to my previous point ... if LSU ends up firing Miles, his college coaching career at a big-time program is for all intents and purposes over, so that must be taken into account as well. He could potentially leverage the Colorado job into 10 more years of coaching regardless of how he does at Colorado. At LSU, as it certainly appears now, this may end up being his last college football stop if he ends up getting fired, so he really only has a lifespan of 4 more years, $15 million, and no "big time" future earning potential as a head coach. There also I'm sure is some draw to being able to win in three different BCS conferences (Big12, SEC, Pac10). Miles is a competitive guy, and that's certainly got to be a secondary (albeit small) draw as well.

Again, I don't think it'll happen, but it's a lot more conveivable than some have said. In the end, it will end up coming down to how LSU finishes this season and the total $$$ amount that ends up in Miles pocket over the entire contact (either with CU or with LSU).

Also, don't rule out the possibility of LSU "subsidizing" Miles to Colorado (so if Colorado can give Miles $2.5 mil per year and a 6-year deal, maybe LSU will chip in $1million per effectively making his buyout $6 million as opposed to $15 million, without even having to fire him. If LSU ends up 9-3 or 8-4, it would probably be wise for all parties involved (colorado, LSU, and Miles) to sit in a room together and figure out a way to make it work ... everyone ends up a winner: Colorado lands a solid coach, Miles ends up financially and professionally better off, and LSU admins help usher out Miles without the bad PR of firing him and without having to write a $15 million check to Miles over 8 years.

Les to CU Talk
I'm in Denver today and it's the primary thing they're discussing on sports talk radio, that Miles loves Colorado, and it's rumored he has been in discussion with the athletic department and board of regents, McCartney and Miles are very close and McCartney is pushing Miles on the powers that be, etc.

Sorry to beat a dead horse but figured I'd share. Callers seem to be in favor of the move. Hawkins is already being discussed in the past tense.

Please God, please make this happen.

for 3.75 million a year, you should be able to multi-task. I have to do it for a lot less than that.

Bottom line---

Les is NOT gone after this year. Unless we lose every remaining game, including ULM, he's not going anywhere.

That being said, no one's paying his buyout this year and Les sure as shite isn't going to take a paycut after this year to go to a place because its more "coach friendly".

If anything, we'll have to wait til his contract is up (assuming he doesn't pull a rabbit out of his arse and win a title and get a contract extension).

If Les wins 10 games, I think Colorado will still be interested and the "talk" will still be there until Miles ruins LSU's hopes at a championship by deciding to stay.

I like how everyone is ignoring the other possible job that might open up after this year that Les would take if offered.

I think Michigan fans would burn down their AD's house if Harbaugh wasn't the guy that got the offer. And that is assuming that RichRod gets fired, and at this point, it certainly appears that they are going to give him one more year unless they lose out. The Purdue game will be key for them ... if they lose that one, RichRod will be gone. If they win that one, I think they give him one more year.

Now, if they do fire RichRod, and Harbaugh turns them down, then yes...certainly Miles would be right there in the discussion and would likely take the job this time.

I admittedly do not like the coaching of Les Miles. I do however like the recruiting of Les Miles and I think he runs a clean program.

With that being said, there is a bit of trepidation on my part in wanting him to leave. Things could easily get much worse from a win/lose perspective and we could easily lose critical recruits to rival programs, including the biggest or more critical recruit of the last decade in Mettenberger.

I am not really sure I trust Alleva to hire the right coach, or a better overall coach than Miles. We always throw around Patterson and Peterson and the like as likely replacements. I am not sure at all that we land someone like that. We are just as likely to end up hiring someone like Kirby Smart, that could end up being a disaster. Hell, even with Peterson, Boise has produced two "flavor of the month" coaches before him that have been hot garbage once they landed BCS jobs. Hiring coaches is a crap shoot.

I would be very cautious right now with all of this if it proves to be true (which I highly doubt).

I would love to see Les at Colorado or Michgan and see if he could build a program like the one he inherited. I think he just intelligent enough to know his limitations, so he will stay at LSU for as long as he is allowed.

If Miles bolts, Frank Wilson better be kept on because the sharks will be circling if he goes elsewhere in the SEC
