Not sure I agree with that logic

If we're talking LSU coach, it was the dumbest call ever and he should be fired

Walking Walker to load the bases was a MSU coach's decision, and it was awfully stupid. You see, some people can actually be objective AND call out their own favorite team's coaches. I know, it's just crazy to some of you uber fans, but it's possible.

Too damn funny.

i don't think walking the bases loaded with 1 out is a great move when you already have the DP set up with runners on 1st and 3rd. Puts way too much pressure on your pitcher to throw strikes

Walking to load the bases with 1 out was a smart move. It decreases the chances of a run scoring by setting up a force out at home. One thing it takes away, which Pap is good at, is the safety squeeze. 1st and 3rd with 1 out would have been the perfect opportunity.

I thought it was 2nd & 3rd but if someone was on 1st it would be unusual

Papierski has all the makings of a successful MLB catcher. Size, savvy, defense are all there. His offense is average but that is fine for a catcher.

runner from third doesn't run on contact with 1 out. a ground ball does not necessarily score a run. and a squeeze play is not a given and a hard play to convert. you're also discounting the fact you're asking a college pitcher to throw strikes in a pressure situation with only 1 out. if there were 2 outs, the move makes more sense. and all it takes to score the run with the bases loaded is a fly ball, which is a more likely outcome and easier to convert than a safety squeeze and exactly what happened. Regardless, Pap wasn't the guy walked so the safety squeeze wouldn't even pertain to him, but Smith

I was so glad Pap* was batting from the left side

He drives the ball deep better

If anything he should have brought in a lefty

Perhaps he doesn't know Pap as well as we do

But yes most coaches walk to set up the DP in that situation. It's understandable

Walking a true freshman to load the bases with 1 out and a 3 year starer coming up is incredibly stupid.

Horrible, horrible decision by Cannizaro.

Stick with football. It was absolutely the right decision. It was the only decision.

Papierski came through in the clutch.

He did not get down about the earlier base running situation. You have to be able to do this to be successful.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing, but I like my chances of turning 2 on anyone's catcher on the 8th inning as opposed to Josh Smith.

Fact. Papierski has taken a beating from this board his whole career. I'm glad he was the guy tonight.

How is it hindsight to clarify that the DP was already in play?

Lol, really? They brought the infield in and tried to get the double play or a force out at home (usually only on a bunt or dribbler to the mound). Once you get the 2nd out, you drop back and play for the force out.
The strike out is the wanted outcome but you hope to keep the ball on the ground.

It was second and third. And it was the right call.
