Supposedly Zipper was behind on defense to start the season. It is reasonable to think he has improved. It does look like McMahon was giving him more time the last few games. Today he had an opportunity (almost got in 1st half) and took advantage.

Better start than I expected really. Today was ugly tho. But sometimes a loss is a good thing. I just want them to be competitive in the SEC this year. Is that too much to ask? No reason w in state talent that we can't be good.

Today is the first time we played a team with a NET or Kenpom under 100. Point being, we played a shite schedule until today and why the record looked good.

Everyone with a brain said this well before the season began - it’s remarkable watching the idiots buy into the bs hype - “this is his best team yet”, “he’s finally got a big and a point guard”, “we have depth”.

What we have is yet another house of cards and the foundation is already crumbling. Bottom dwelling overpaid bunch of posers and their leader mcdenial.

Except for UCF in the exhibition game with Reed, whose currently 53rd in KenPom. After this loss, LSU is 39th, which I think is about right without Reed. With Reed, I think we'd be 5 to 10 spots higher, but we wouldn't be a top 25 team anyway. Texas Tech is a top 25 team, and they had a great shooting day, while LSU had a terrible shooting day, but I think LSU is a better team than what showed up today.

SMU just beat Moo St in OT, got blown out by Vandy, and are in tight game with A&M mid way through the 2nd half. If we look bad against them then the writing is on the wall.

The problem is UCF doesn’t count for anything as it was an exhibition. I watched the game and both teams tried to win, but it’s meaningless.

I don’t think we’re as bad as we looked today, but as of now we would be something like:
0-1 Quad 1
1-0 Quad 2
2-0 Quad 3
4-0 Quad 4

If we lose to SMU next week, this OOC has been crap, even if our record ends up 11-2.

That’s what I don’t understand about some posters. They will yell all day about football that Indiana, Notre Dame, etc. don’t play anyone and they aren’t deserving of anything, yet they’ll look at LSU MBB and see 8-0 or 11-2 and say, looking good - while completely ignoring the schedule.

It doesn't matter that the UCF game didn't count. It matters because it showed that LSU is a good team, and probably at least a top 50 team. Texas Tech is a top 20 team, and they are clearly better, and today's game showed that LSU is not nearly as good. I think the SMU game is the one that will tell us the most about this team. LSU is currently 39th in KenPom and SMU is now 40th, so if LSU is truly a top 40 team, then that game should be very close. I'm not confident that LSU is the 39th best team, but I think it is close. It is a good thing for LSU that SMU won the game against Texas A&M in OT, because had SMU lost, they would've been hungrier. On the other hand, wining like that toughens a team up, but I'd rather that than a team up against the wall to win.

An exhibition win didn’t show jack shite besides it was a good exhibition game. It counts absolutely zero for LSU getting into the NCAAT.

So many dudes hanging their hat on an exhibition win truly shows the state of the program. I’m almost speechless to the extent people will go to find a way to their narrative.

“We’re a good team” - now how do I get there? Can’t use the cupcake schedule or today’s blowout loss. So what can I use? Oh yeah, the exhibition game. That proves my point. Checkers mate, bitches. Laughable.

And I enjoyed the win, I’m glad we looked good, but holy shite this exhibition game stuff is out of hand. This rivals some of the most talked about exhibitions of all time. Insane.

And yes, SMU will tell us a lot. Win this game and the remaining 3 cupcakes and OOC is salvageable with the only loss being a Quad 1. Lose to SMU, then the OOC was crap for LSU.

The bottom line is what does this program want to be? One that can compete in the upper tier of college basketball? Or one that’s happy to occasionally beat the bottom tier of other major conferences and hope that is enough to achieve the bare minimum of “success”?

The ONLY thing separating LSU from Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, hell, at this point, Vanderbilt, is the head coach. That’s it! To anyone who was willing to be objective could see in season 1 McMahon was not that guy. Be it 1 year or 6 years, he’s not going to be that guy. He doesn’t have “it”.

I missed the first half. The second half, while not great, was not terrible either. It looked like their shooting was ice cold in the first half when I checked the stats at halftime. The rebounding issues, which to me indicate likely struggles in the paint.

Tell me what you saw, Drizz.

Two straight games with poor shooting to start the game. That is troubling, but it may happen at times when a team relies on shooting as much as this team has seemed to. Not to mention the lack of offensive rebounds.

If they expect to compete with good teams, they cannot dig these holes.

Let's see what the next game looks like, I want to believe

The exhibition win alone doesn't show that we're a good team, but it is a good indicator. To write it off and say that we hadn't played any good teams isn't true, but of course it is just one data point. Ever since then, LSU has been dominant against top 150 opponents, which is good indicator that it is good team, because most top 50 teams have had close games against top 150 opponents. All of the power ranking indices took that into account, which is why LSU had moved up to 18 in NET despite the weak opponents. Many things play into game outcomes. This game showed that LSU didn't deserve to be in the top 20, but I think LSU's previous dominance has shown enough to prove it is a top 50 team,. That doesn't mean we should be satisfied, but I think this is going to be a much better season than the last few, and I think we will outplay preseason expectations significantly.

Watched highlights, and just looked at box score. 6 assist? There’s a flag. What all did I miss? Reed needed non conference to get trust in the leg and speed but was a huge piece, showed leadership by coming off the bench and his multi skill set.

I don’t think many believed we could win this game but had a good chance. Shake it off and grow from it.

I’m expecting king to get more minutes and perhaps bring Tamba off the bench to be a veteran next to miller for second team. Reece, once again is X factor; has to protect the ball, draw fouls, and set up perimeter guys.

Here they come. Here come the McMA's defending King McHallman. It doesn't matter the LSU sport. THEY'RE THERE in THEIR trailers at the Mobile Home Complex defending the MEDS. .

Is anyone surprised? This team sucks and this program will suck until McMahon is fired and LSU hires a good coach. Woody fricked us royally by canning Wade. There is no arguing that. If you can’t get him back, hire someone else worth a shite. This coach sucks arse!

I would like to believe as well. That second half vs. BC was troubling for me. BC is not good but - I'll go back to the premise I keep seeing under CMM, they stepped up the physicality, and we could not execute any sort of offense.

Luckily, they only had one guy who could put the ball in the hole, but we could not put them away because we could not put the ball in the hole either. We were fortunate to get the flagrant foul call and two free throws to stem one of their runs and Thomas went off script an created a couple of shots late to tie it, he is legit but teams have and will gap him and make it difficult. It was an ugly second half and it continued into this last game, they got up in us physically and we retreated.
