Because everyone like to freshen things up a bit once in awhile. And there's nothing wrong with that.
Look good, feel good, play good.
If you don't care about uniforms, then why don't we just default to the Penn State model, and wear generic uniforms that look like a middle school team?

And it's not meaningless at all. A lot of people (even guys) feel better when they look good, whether it's business attire or a football uniform.
Does it translate into better play on the field - probably not much, if at all.
But if it gives even a couple players a little extra boost to wear a uni they like, then that's a good thing.
Again, if it doesn't matter at all, let's just go the Penn State route and wear a boring, drab middle school uniform. But nobody wants that - we all want our guys to look good on the field.

UGA has worn alternate uniforms several times.
I wouldn't mind seeing the purple helmets return this weekend since they were created for a military tribute uniform. If we're ever going to dust them off for another opponent, who better than West Point?
