Poche is looking at a signing amount between $50K and $90K.

I think he'll be back

Rounds 11-40 carry a value of 100k and the amount over that for any particular player counts against the team's total pool.

They can go higher than the 100k if they have pool money left over from the top 10 rounds. Then there is less severe penalty for going less than 5% above your total pool.

is it a forgone conclusion that Poche will leave with that 14th round pick?

i know he has been saying he was going but i also know he thought he was going higher...

I feel like this is a good thread to tell everyone that through 37 summer league ABs Bryce Adams has 2 HRs and 6 RBIs with a .353/.405/.676 slash line. 27% K rate though.

The tax is based on total dollars spent by each team compared to their allotted pool, not on any specific signing.

For example if they save a total of $100k on their picks in the top 10 rounds they could offer $200k to a pick outside the top 10 with no penalty.

Okay, thanks. Every time I read the draft value guidelines I come away with a different interpretation.

Do you think Poche will get offered more than the $100K for being picked in the 14th round?

I do. The Padres had a lot of picks early on so their pool is huge. And they drafted 4 seniors within the top 10 rounds.

It depends on how the Padres spend their pool with the higher picks. Baseball Amercia has a good calculator for tracking bonuses and available dollars.

I don't know. Are we going to be able to find consistent pitching from the starting rotation?

Padres total pool amount is $12,743,800. Their +5% number is $13,380,990. With 4 seniors in the top 10 rounds, I think they're going to be able to find enough to sign him.

I think the fact that all Poche's best performances came on 4 days rest helps his negotiating power. They know he'll be able to adjust to the pro schedule.

As is always the case, there has never been more than two seniors graduate from the originally recruited Freshman class. This is typical of all years. Prove it if I am wrong. The only senior from the original freshman class is Hunter Devall.

Wasn't Kevin Berry out of Bro Martin a senior with those three and recruited in the same freshman class as them?
