We need to polish up the basics so we focus on blocking assignments and penalties

Heresy

Coach guice to go down and not give safety a shot.
Hero/tough guy ball is bs compared to healthy star rb vs alabama.

Obviously red zone efficiency will be hot topic in practice this week, but what do you think offensively is #2 weakness or issue we had last week to address in practice, defense obviously is fine.

I think the atm nightmare may serve us well

Really the only concerns I have are penalties and red zone offense. Obviously it being the first game of the year, we were bound to have those issues but hopefully from here on out, we improve on those numbers, which is all we could hope for.

I totally agree with this. Here's another point, the way Canada game plans, showing some of the offense can have an adverse affect on a team. You can still confuse the shite out of an opponent by adding wrinkles to the film you've shown. They think they know what's coming, confident even, and you change the tendency up. That can cause huge mistakes from a defense who is confident they know what's coming. So this premise of not showing the play sheet is dumb IMO. You can always add to it for that specific game week.

LSU needs to go all out. Just play ball, and it I'm the OC I'm calling the game like I would against anyone else. MS will not know what's coming no matter what. Just play ball. Get full steam ahead.

I agree with keeping it Vanilla against BYU because they are a smart veteran team who take advantage of mistakes. LSU also didn't know exactly what they had or how everyone would react to the offense. Now that we know more or that Cananda knows more, it's time for him to go for it. Why hold it back? Doesn't make since to me not to show anything. By the time we get to the meat of the SEC the play sheet will be more exposed out of necessity anyway. Just go for it. GT

Main Focus should be get backup QBs real reps and not just hand offs. The more live action they get, the better we will be next season.

Miles seemed to always waste these opportunities.

Wait, wait wait--I just want to make sure I understand you here. You think our main focus for the 2nd game of the 2017 season should be to prepare our backup quarterbacks for the 2018 season? That's what you're going with?

Similar game plan to make sure the core plays and motions are comfortable, but very few carries for Guice.

Fix penalties.

Red zone offense.

A few more deep balls.

We need one of the big body wide receivers to become a more reliable option. Personally I'd love to see that be Stephen Sullivan.

1. Cut down penalties
2. Improve redzone efficiency (May be a problem, I expect many long TD runs by Guice and the rest of the stable)
3. Keep playbook vanilla but work on mid range passes (10-15)
4. Get the 2nd team in before the fan start leaving (Early 3rd quarter)

Etling has got to learn to throw the ball over the middle in the 10- 20 yd range. LSU has not been able to do that since Mett.

Get Narcisse reps in red zone rpo, with a single back, "tall" receiver package. Let him practice reading his keys, running/passing.

Work on three to four WR sets, no play action quick over the middle passing, and work on red zone efficiency, mainly being able to pass for TD's in between the 7-15 yard lines.

Kickoff coverage needs some work

^This^

Saw overpursuit. Too many bodies on the sides of the play ran too far past the ball carrier. That will hurt us bad once we face top-tier SEC caliber returners and ST.

Kickoff distance, field goal accuracy, and punt/kick coverage could use a little tweaking. Nothing major, but just some.
