What Maineri was saying for you and the rest of the 3rd grade mentalities out there is that Nola didn't pull any crap, get into scrapes or have a reputation for idiotic behavior. He was a straight arrow player that concentrated on his baseball and studies. There are no embarrassing stories to tell because he didn't do embarrassing things.
I’ve seen that baseball team out at bars. Nola was always buttoned up and sitting down relaxed not getting wild. Seemed very laid back and quiet. And if you’ve ever listened to his interviews, he’s as vanilla as they come

The guys who were there clearly liked CPM a lot, with one exception, who I was told was lazy AF.
Well spill the beans, who was it?

Not sure what LSU "fans" love more, hating current coaches or hating past coaches.

Too many LSU fans are addicted to drama like schoolgirls. Must be the coonass culture.

know 2 former players personally, and they both have said he was not "well liked".

Talk to a former player or a parent of former players and they will tell you that he Hated. There is a reason why former players never came back around while he was there. The Guy was a DICK!

He's no longer the head coach here. You don't have to direct everything he says. Some of you have way to much disdain for people who have very little impact on your life. Let it go.

You mean like the multitude of players that not only came back but worked for him again as coaches?
Or are we talking about the current pros like krob, Smith, Bregman, mahtook and freeman that still ask him to throw batting practice for them when they’re in town?
Which one of those groups hate him?
Because it kind of seems like he’s just a regular person who has people that like him and has people that don’t like him.

The few former players I’ve crossed paths with liked Mainieri. Not some deep life long bond necessarily. I don’t doubt he had former players that didn’t like him. That kind of comes with the territory. Not all coaches are beloved, sage icons like Skip. I don’t see an issue with calling Nola boring. I assume it was tongue in cheek about how focused and methodical he was and is.

Or the ones that have donated tons of money back to the program while he was coaching

He never had a relationship with his players.

I did. They said the opposite about their feelings.

You are reading way into that way to much.
I’ll also hop on the bandwagon against the “Mainieri is hated” stuff. I grew up with a former pitcher (3 years with Mainieri) and that isn’t even remotely the case. Former players loved Mainieri.

This is the dumbest statement you could have said. He did have a relationship with his players. Just such an ignorant statement.
Aaron Nola is a very quiet guy, he was never very emotional. He should have said it that way vs saying he was boring but the fact of the matter is he is not one of those players you're going to have funny story about like Bregman, Mahtook, and DJ.
