Looking at those numbers, one would think us and Alabama have the two best resumes, with UGA 3rd, and Kentucky 4th. I honestly don't see how Kentucky does enough to get in unless they sweep Vandy, and that still may not be enough
First, Kentucky would 100% be in with a Vandy sweep. It would be a much better series win than ours over Ole Miss. It's also at Vandy. They're going to get a lot of credit if they sweep. And their SOS/RPI is going to skyrocket (it likely will even if they're swept).

Our biggest plus is that we have series wins of Bama and UK. Of course, that didn't mean much when we had a series win vs State in 2011 but I think it's the biggest notch we have if all 4 teams or those 3 end up with the same SEC records.

Much better chance of Kentucky being swept by Vandy. I have 0 concern that Kentucky will sweep Vandy.

There’s a human element to it as well, where you are premier program LSU. If you are down this bad, then maybe you deserve not to make the post season if you can’t get out of your own way.

Moscona is right. Last nights loss doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things

Oh I agree. I was just talking in terms of that hypothetical.

I just realized all of the SEC series are Thurs-Sat this week. Love it.

That was the thinking in '06 and '11 it seems. Those teams had better resumes than many teams that got bids. Same will happen this year if we don't make it.

For the most part he is right. This is a mediocre team, no real shock there. I am clinging to hope we can get white hot at the plate with Dugas, Doughty, Beloso, Crews, Morgan and make some noise...but the odds are against these stars aligning.

But, in reality, we dont deserve a whole lot of consideration.

They do that every year before the SECT since it starts midweek next week.

Midweek games do matter when you’re a bad team

Midweek games don’t matter when you’re a good team

LSU is 32-20. If LSU lost 6 midweek games that supposedly don’t matter they’d be 26-26 right now.

LSU would not make the tournament at 28-27 (13-17) and probably wouldn’t even be in at 29-26 (14-16).

Which means... midweek games matter. Luckily LSU won almost all of them this season to help their record and RPI out.

No one would have LSU in or even on the bubble had they lost to Southern, Nichols, ULL, etc and had a 13-17 record. And no one would have LSU out or even on the bubble if they were 20-10 and lost those same games. Matt is a troll. Saying last night didn't matter is like saying a loss to Vandy doesn't matter if you finish the season 20-10. It's gaslighting.

ETA: Matt's fallacy is that he uses only a single side of the coin... midweeks game don't matter IF... And he's not wrong there. SEC games matter more and if you win those, the midweek game results have no importance. They're there to get guys work and keep guys fresh. They serve a purpose but they mean nothing to the committee in that instance. But it's only one part of it. The flip side of it is if you don't take care of SEC games... If you're on the cusp of getting into the NCAAT... or getting a host... or getting a top seed. Then the whole schedule gets dissected and midweek games are a part of that. They matter MOST when you're on the bubble to get in the tournament because things go beyond the conference record.

How about Ole Miss loss to UT Martin (wherever that is)!

If LSU went their normal 50% in midweek games, then they wouldn't even be in consideration for a regional. Don't let his spatter make you think anything else. If we were 26-26 we would have no shot.

But they didn't go 60%, which is why last night didn't mean shite.

It's all about A&M and making a run in Hoover. That was the case whether we won or lost yesterday.

Agreed.. we usually lose 4-5 midweek games. Can't believe we haven't lost more this season.

Fun fact: if you don’t listen to Matt’s show you don’t have to ever hear his voice.

Normally it wouldn't, but LSU is on the bubble, so of course it mattered.
