why because LSU fans are excited? IMO let the people be excited. Is it ruining this Monday for you that some people are happy?

look, the kid had a great year in JUCO this past year. But its unrealistic to think that he comes in and puts up those same numbers.

This!

He has played HS and JUCO and is going to the best conference in the country. From what I have heard he is a pocket passer.....now unless our o-ling gets much better at pass blocking I can see this being an issue.

I'm just expecting him to be able to throw for more than 75 yards a game. Oh, and also to not give the other team 7 points on a regular basis.

The Rant is where optimism comes to die.

Why would you think he cant put up those numbers with an all-star supporting cast? With that logic, no JUCO QB will ever be able to be a star in D-1.

dude doesn't have to be savior to get worshipped on this board. he just has to be better than lee and jefferson.

if you want to go that route, how many JUCO QB's have ever been All SEC caliber?

you have a freak talent like Newton, and after that, the list is pretty slim.

he'll be basically like a FR coming in next year. People dont realize how hard it is for a QB to just come in and start and hit th ground running

I never said he couldn't. I hope he is half as good as cam was this year. But alot of fans are annointing him as the starer as well as savior of the LSU offense and that is not a given.....I wish it was but it isn't.

Besides Mallet how many QB's in the sec are successful pocket passers?

I am very optimistic that he will be good but I am using some caution.

one could argue most weren't SEC caliber prior to JUCO. Don't know how many started at an SEC school, went JUCO then back to the SEC outside of Newton and now Mettenberger.

Will he have numbers like Tebow? Naw. I think he can put up Matt Flynn like stats. But, its important now that we plug holes at DT, LB, and CB.

I'm having a pretty good time here! That's what makes your post so ironic if not downright dumb.

Well if the first pass he throws as a Tiger doesn't go for 200 yards and 3 TDs. rest asuured there will be a massive Rant meltdown.

Optimism doesn't necessarily mean unreal expectations. Mettenberger has a chance to be part of the puzzle that is missing. I think people are well aware of this.

Well...J Lee was an Elite 11 4=star QB coming out of HS and JJ was also a 4-star. Seems to me it might be a combination of coaching and offensive line. But we'll see.

Im shocked a QB of that caliber would even want to come play for a joke of a OC and O-line coach. It boggles my mind.

I hope things work out better with Mett.

Nobody here has ever anointed a backup or a signee as LSU's savior before!
