Milazzo has as many RBIs as Neal. Milazzo was hitting .400 coming into the game. My entire point is that maybe we aren't losing as much as the rant tells you with Milazzo hitting.
Has he faced nearly as many Ace’s/solid pitchers as Neal? Not quite.

Why did Neal get pulled?

You are right. So we should just close this discussion board, since there is nothing really to discuss.
Don’t be mad, that guy has a point
Johnson thinks Neal should start, but you say Milazzo should start
I think Johnson knows more about baseball than you ever will and knows his players better than you ever could
Just my two cents

Yeah but if Milazzo was starting you could walk around Zachary and have something else to talk about. I get it. Neal is better at the moment but Milazzo has made enough noise that JJ is going to him.

Coach J usually makes some defensive moves late in the games to help preserve a lead. Milazzo is a better catcher than Neal. It also helps keep both catchers engaged and fresh for a long season.

Milazzo got hot against bad teams. We’ll see as he gets more sec AB’s
Nobody expects him to hit .300. But people laughed and thought it was impossible that he could bat .250. frick that noise. People pretend like players can’t get better year to year. K Rob says hi.

The two passed balls were inexcusable. That throw was a hell of a peg though and had Thompson let it travel a little further, the guy would have been out.
Neal can throw it to, now. That backside pickoff at 1B was a laser. The kid is well beyond his years with his feel for the game.

Same. I watched every replay they showed numerous times and I still couldn't tell. Very close play.
The only thing I thought after they overturned the call was - they must have had an angle that we didn't see.
Very, very close play.
Like another poster said above - the runner got a great jump. The throw was perfect...great baseball play all around.

No, not even close. A few of his hits were misplayed bunts, too. He had a cheap inf single in a 9-0 game vs Butler. He really has not hit in any unfavorable situation.
His other hits have come in games with following scores: mostly late in blowout games or midweek against over matched teams.
7-0 Butler
9-0 Butler
8-2 Lamar
12-0 Samford
10-1 Samford
10-4 UNO
9-2 ARK
7-2 Grambling
12-2 Grambling

The two passed balls
It was 1, the 2nd was a wild pitch 100%, it was thrown about 6 feet high

Also the current setup to me makes most sense of Neal starting most every game with Milazzo getting a very spot start here and there so Neal can start more games and gets some rest at the end of them with Milazzo coming in tight situations late.
Id rather that setup than Milazzo starting more games to give him relief. It's nice to be be able to bring in a number of defensive replacements late in games, especially at catcher to give your main guy a rest. Not easy to catch 3 9 inning games every weekend in a row. Milazzo got caught out last night but we know thats not typival play from him at all. I dont think we see a change in philosophy unless that became an actual issue.

Milazzo was out of character on those two passed balls,
Look like he may have been crossed up on pitches. Especially the first one. I really don't like the getting signals from a watch deal....

It was a 91mph pitch and had his catching position been better he handles that ball easily.
He’s goes down to a knee and is still able to square it up.
If you are the guy everyone says can catch in the MLB because you defense is that good, you don’t miss this ball.

That's why I thought he may have been crossed up on what was coming...

The two past balls were bad, but I wonder if there was something about the pitches. We went back to the bull pen right after so I am guessing maybe the pitches were way off the spot. That would contribute.

Milazzo is elite defensively. The people who try to argue otherwise are idiots. They don't like his hitting so they just try to rag on him at any possible moment. The only thing that Neal has right now that is better than Milazzo is raw power. I think Milazzo should be starting more honestly.
Milazzo is getting the amount of playing time he deserves. But lets be honest here. Neal has been playing very well and made a nice back throw to get the runner out at first.
Milazzo is right now the better defensive catcher for sure but its his arm and pop up time that separate him not his receiving. Neal has done nothing to be benched for Milazzo. Jay is going to play the guys who give us the best chance to win. And Milazzo is getting a lot of playing time as it is and is playing in every game.

I've always felt that he's very good defensively, but there is a cavern between his very, very good defense and the legend that is perpetuated about how good his defense is. He's a poor man's Ryan Jorgensen. No one who has ever played catcher is as good as Milazzo's PR about his defense is. Charlie Johnson could have a child with every Molina brother combined and the resultant catcher messiah wouldn't be as good as this legend.

He was set up low and in and got a 91 mph fastball up and away. That’s not an easy ball to get to. Milazzo would probably be the first to tell you he should have caught it but it’s called a wild pitch for a reason.

No one says he can play in the MLB right now. That is something that MLB catchers should be able to make but he still has some developing to do.
He is the better defensive catcher out of him and Neal but he isn’t perfect. He’s really really good but I do think the rant overrates his defense some.

Yeah and then they are being disingenuous with fans because I thought we are supposed to see what they do so we understand the call.
I mean if he was called safe initially I’d have no Beef either due to the video.

Watching on tv there was some doubt that he may have gotten in there but I don’t think there was definitive proof he was safe.
I should add that I am looking at this from a very biased viewpoint.
