Maybe Miles should make an effort to not have one of the most penalized teams in the conference every single year, and we wouldn't have to bitch about the refs?
well how do you propose doing that? Miles doesn't have any control over who refs the games. He doesn't determine where the SEC offices are located. I don't get what you are trying to say.

that's because you have never really paid attention to how teams actually line up when they line up for a snap. on pass plays the oline is generally lined up in somewhat of a flattened v shape and the WR's are also back off the ball with the slot back further back than the others. Has to really be blatant to draw a penalty otherwise the refs would be throwing flags on every pass play. It's really one of those arbitrary rules (like holding) that the ref can call whenever he wants and justify his flag.

That may be. Also, looking at Dural, he appears to be off the line, but in front of slot. How many times is such a 'formation' not flagged? I wonder.

I think he is trying to say CLM should coach them better...a team that commits a lot of penalties usually isn't said to be a well coached team right?

in some cases, not in this case. There is a much bigger and insidious issue involved here

the refs?
I thought some of the PI's were shady and a hold called on Pocic...as well as some of the spots but nothing out of the ordinary form any other game I watch

Gosh. Maybe a ticky tack call. Wow.

The other ref threw the flag because the penalty was on the tight end being off the line, not Dural. This is what the SEC will say and he does look like he's a good bit further back than the LT.

I see Dupe on the illegal formation call, but I do not see Miles on the illegal formation call in your post

I'm surprised this game even had an SEC ref crew

OMG! LSU isn't the most penalized team in the SEC every year. And to boot, Miles has had several season where he had the Tigers ranked lower than most of Saban's seasons.

In non-conference games between Power 5 conferences, the visiting team's conference usually supplies the officials.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the fact that both the HL and LJ are responsible for the line count. It's possible that both officials threw their flags. It would be nice to see an opposite angle to see if the hidden official has his arm up to indicate the widest man is off the line or if he throws his flag.
If you use the 0 from the 10 yard line as a reference, it looks like the wide out is 1.5 to 2 yards off the ball, which would put him in the back field. The edge of the 0 looks to be between the 11 and 12 yard line.

The fact that the SEC office is located in Birmingham should be an area of concern. Most of the league officials are from the state of Alabama and as LSU fans can attest, most of the really bad, game-changing calls have occurred in the LSU vs AL or LSU vs AU games!! You just need to google You-Tube for controversial calls involving LSU and you'll find AL or AU and Tom Ritter... the SEC's most ridiculed official.
Ritters whole crew throws more flags than any other Sec crew.
Do you think LSU has a right to request Tom Ritter....NOT REFEREE LSU GAMES...

Flag was thrown at the snap.
I didn't see the flag thrown at all in that video.

you see Dupre looking toward the ref and motioning. But, Dural is not
But you can see that Dural is clearly further up than Dupre.

If Ritter is the ref for any LSU game from here on LSU shouldn't leave the locker room.
Keep in mind, the last LSU game Ritter (and his crew) called (before this week) was against Alabama and the penalties were Bama: 3-29 LSU: 2-20

The ball was set at the 13 yard line. The receive closest to the sideline front foot was at the 11.5 yard line. The slot receiver front foot was at the 11 yard line. Thats an illegal Formation(5men in the backfield). Simple as that. If you watch the video, the opposite side ref literally leans over to look down the LOS, then throws the flag.
If the receiver lines up and checks with the official as they are trained to do then he should not be flagged. Dural and Dupre checked with the official closest to them and the official on the opposite sideline throws the flag. Why did the two not confer on this? That is where the problem is. One official evidently OK'd the alignment and another overruled it from literally 50 yds away.

This.
SEC has the worst officials in the country.

Then the dumbass ref should have told him he was off the line when dural checked with him.
