I sure as hell wouldn’t tell my son to quit without seeing it through. That attitude won’t get you anywhere in life.

I’d tell my son to take this extra time (the Burrow years) to work on his game and make the most of the package they are putting together for you. If you do those things well they will give you more. If Burrow gets hurt you may be the first guy in. If he goes pro next year or when he’s gone after ‘19, if you are talented enough, and have put in the work, you’ll be the guy. Graduate after 3 years and if you aren’t the guy, but still want to play somewhere, then you can transfer. But you are a part of this team and you need to pay your dues first and see what happens.

Not talking bad, but pointing out that most QBs climb the ladder.

Now I realize there are some big exceptions, but those exceptions are better talents.

I know you weren't. I was speaking of someone else in the thread. The kid was going to get a chance to get some game experience and learn the offense. He easily could have built off of that while in the Wildcat package and that would have been my advice to him as well. Unfortunately, he wanted an oppurtunity to show that he is more than that now. Good luck.

Wildcat or no wildcat. He would have been throwing passes to keep teams honest when in the game as a freshman.

His family made a rash decision. I hope it works out for him. LSU provides an opportunity for a life after football that isn't available very many places.

The problem is that at the end of the spring, he was told that if he continued to progress, there was a good chance that he'd be the starter. Then, O went out and got Burrow, yet continued to tell Lowell that it was still anybody's race... then last week, he told him otherwise. You can only blow so much smoke until a person gets wise to it. On top of that he's been sitting for three years and he's sick of sitting. Can't blame the kid for wanting to play. I think his best chance at success would be at a mid-major, although I hear Mullen has expressed interest.

Hard to be the starter when you don’t know left from right. All the best, L.

agree. That is more to the point than anything else in this thread. He missed his junior and senior season in high school, then redshirted his freshman season here. He probably just wants (and needs) to get on the field as a starter somewhere, anywhere. Is being a very limited situational player at a power 5 school like LSU more valuable experience (or enjoyable) than getting plenty PT at a JUCO. For most QBs it would be a hard question to answer but for a QB that's been on the shelf for as long as he has, it's not a hard question to answer at all. He is doing what he feels for him is best and it really isn't hurting LSU any. (McMillan leaving hurts the program a little bit this season as he was the primary backup but Narcisse leaving has very little impact for LSU)

What's wrong with being an option out of the wildcat, that's how Tebow started.
As did Dak Prescott, as a redshirt freshman in 2012. He had more rush attempts than pass attempts that year. But was effective enough in the redzone (4 pass TD, 4 rush TD, 0 INT) to propel him to be the starter of the senior Russell in 2013 (after starting the year injured).

Yes, it was a golden opportunity for Narcisse. He pigeonholed HIMSELF.

I'm judging the frick out of his QB play and it was absolutely sub-par. frick off, this is a discussion board.

Big mistake imo. Many situational qbs that see the field do well when a team is struggling and ends up the man. Only way to prove himself is on the field. If he lights it up n wildcat eventually defenses will load up and he will get a shot to throw some. Who knows what happens if he gets hot. As a RS fr qb n sec that was certain to see the field imo he was n a great spot

Yes, there's nothing wrong with that at all.

If Mett or Burrow had gotten here and said they wanted to prove they weren't bench warmers, you'd all be creaming your britches.

He was just trying to troll me. Most rational and intelligent people feel absolutely the same way as you. Even that troll does. If you watch him on this site, you notice he jumps from thread to thread, a passive aggressive troll that thinks he is sly.

Except he wasn't going to be a bench warmer. He was going to play as a freshman, despite being very limited passing. Idcsay that was pretty damn good. Now he'll go juco and throw for 600 yards and 6 tds a game like Scott, and you people will be like SEE. Then if he goes power 5, he will be right back where he was. His quickest path to playing time at a major program was lsu. Problem was his family and friends in his ear.

Some of you guys are acting like a cuckhold husband whose wife said she just found a real man.

The kid said nothing wrong. He voiced his opinion. He felt he was better than the option LSU was providing so he moved along.

He will either prove himself right or he won't. In any event, the decision to leave is his to live with regardless of how it plays out.

Wish him the best and don't take it so personally.

So he felt he was the best QB on the lsu roster, and the most ready to lead this team overall? Then when he was beat out, by multiple QBs, he was still given an opportunity to get on the field at a major program, as a FRESHMAN, in a role that the team needed RIGHT NOW. With 4 years left to play, THAT wasn't good enough. Again, bad advise from family and friends. You see the threads started on this site by some of those people claiming his greatness. All this talk about been sitting 3 years....bs...he was getting his chance THIS YEAR. He got bad advice. That's fine. But don't go off running his mouth how he is gonna show lsu that he is better than what they think of him. That's bs. Lsu obviously thought a lot of him.

I really didn't see a great deal of malice towards LSU in that one statement. If there is an ax to grind it's likely with staff and not the school.

Almost everyone playing JUCO ball is there to prove their worth and value. Almost everyone playing JUCO ball has some sort of chip on their shoulder.

I'm not defending his decision to leave. It may be the best one he's ever made or it might well backfire but the decision was his to make. I wish him well.
