I remember his post-game interview on ESPN in one of his early LSU games.

TV guy: Cam, what's your favorite spot to shoot from?

Cam: Everywhere!

I agree with you about how horrible of a team player he is, but this is some weird shite bro.

nah. He really is a losing player.

LSU went 19-10 with a team of him, Watford, Days, Smart because Will Wade just let Thomas do whatever the hell he wanted. Shoot way more than anyone else, play no defense and wouldnt pass the ball.

To be fair, the team before Thomas's year didn't play defense either. 2020 and 2021 were Wade's two best offensive teams. Top 5 nationally in offensive efficiency. He just leaned for too heavily on offense...which made LSU grossly imbalanced. Then the next season he has one of the best defensive teams in the nation.

It wasn’t so much the defense as it was the unregulated shot selection and lack of passing to open players, which is important if you’re going to have such a high usage.

have long said Thomas is awful and been mocked for it. some of you clowns even mocked me for saying tari Eason is a far better player. he is. far far better.

"“Eason is a way better player than cam thomas.” - me

Lol he’s averaging 2 more minutes per game and is still less productive. Thanks for clarifying you don’t know anything about basketball" - local angry poster "madking"

I think I have been proven right, Eason is playing awesome, cam Thomas is cut.

I think I made fairly strong points about this years ago in this thread

and was downvoted hard, but every single word I said was correct. cam Thomas is a selfish one-dimensional player. he makes his team worse.

Wow man, you're so cool. Why can't us mere mortals be more like you?

I hope you didn't type that with a straight face.

Dude has a 47 point game and 10 40+ games in his career and getting released is wild.

He wants a big contract but he's 1/4 of a player. Doesn't play defense, rebound, or assist other players. Has a terrible FG and 3 PT%. Doesn't seem like he has a great attitude or personality to be a locker room chemistry guy. He needs to grow up and be a professional.

From an individual standpoint, yes. But from a team perspective LSU still scored efficiently. They didn't lose games because of a lack scoring...until the NCAA Tournament. Like you said though, he had zero interest in playing defense and Wade didn't make him.

You also have to remember that was a weird year because of covid. LSU only played 6 pre SEC non-conference games. That's half as many as they would normally play. Who knows if things would have been a little more ironed out before SEC play if they had those extra games. Particularly given LSU had games vs. VCU, Syracuse, and UCF originally scheduled. Also, the overall record is skewed because they didn't play those 6 non-conf. games PLUS two SEC games were cancelled.

LSU was playing relative well in the final month of that season. But for the cancelled games, it's possible that team finishes the regular season with the second best record of Wade's 5 years.

cam Thomas is terrible. high volume scorer, does basically nothing else for the team. horrible D, no assists, no boards, no steals or really any other value.
when he was at LSU, I checked his stats and among the top 100 scorers in the country, he was something like 95 in shooting percentage.

So yes, he scored a lot, but was very inefficient doing it. And his D isn't good.

Not a good combo.

I wouldn’t contend either of these, just that it could have been better when bad shots are taken & missed, vs passing to an open player, which was a common theme with Thomas.

As volatile as Thomas was with the clock running, his FT volume and efficiency lends its self to positive efficiency stats. So he did have that going for him

he played for wade who is my favorite coach of all time in any sport.

yunno how many minutes of the will wade show at TJ ribs I missed during his career here? zero. I drove to mcneese games to watch him. I quote him all the time in my daily life. I predicted exactly where he would end up before anyone

You sound like a fricking stalker. I'm not a McMahon fan, but lots of people act like Wade is the only option in the country. frick WW. When Verge decides to make a change, it will be a good coach, but it won't be WW.

He could be a great asset to the right team. Put him on a team with
a strong inside game and he can shoot spot up threes and keep the opponent from collapsing inside. JJ Reddick had a long career because
he was good at finding the right team to play on. Thomas is a similar player to JJ, great shoot but can’t carry a team and a defensive liability
